11th Grade Students Receive National Recognition in Constitutional Court Competition

The Constitutional Court of the Dominican Republic, through its Center for Constitutional Studies, hosted the eighth edition of the “Me Gradúo con el TCRD” competition, an initiative designed for high school graduating classes to encourage the understanding, appreciation, and promotion of the Dominican Constitution through creative and educational projects. In addition to strengthening constitutional education, the competition provides students with the opportunity to compete for awards that support their graduation activities.
In this edition, our 11th Grade students were recognized as winners in the “National Identity and Citizenship” category, standing out among numerous educational institutions across the country. Their project explored the different ways Dominican citizenship can be acquired and highlighted the importance of practicing responsible citizenship, committed to democratic principles, respect for fundamental rights, and the preservation of national identity.
As part of the development of their project, students researched and analyzed Articles 18 through 36 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic, which address nationality, citizenship, and the rights associated with these principles. Through their work, they creatively presented key legal and social concepts that contribute to the formation of informed, engaged, and responsible citizens.
This project was closely connected to the learning objectives developed in the Social Studies curriculum, particularly topics related to the Constitution, Moral and Civic Education, citizens’ rights and responsibilities, national identity, and the construction of citizenship. The experience allowed students to move beyond theoretical learning and understand how constitutional principles shape democratic life and social coexistence in our country.
Beyond the recognition received, this achievement represents the impact of educational experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world applications. Through initiatives like this, students strengthen important skills such as research, critical thinking, communication, and civic participation, while developing a deeper sense of belonging and commitment to their community and society.
We are proud of our students for representing SGS with excellence and for demonstrating the values that guide our mission: developing responsible citizens who are prepared to make a positive impact in the world.
