Weekly Highlights is a weekly newsletter sent by the BVIS Leadership Team to parents, providing updates on notable news and activities at the school. The newsletter consists of three main sections: updates from the Principal, Head of Primary, and Head of Secondary.

Dear Parents,

The campus came alive first thing on Monday morning as a sea of blue wound its way across our field. Celebrating our 15th year, BVIS students and staff proudly wore their special anniversary T-shirts, coming together to create a memorable 15th Anniversary photograph. It was a wonderful moment of unity and pride, another cherished memory for our community, and a celebration of all that makes this school so special.

While being immensely proud of BVIS celebrating our 15th anniversary it’s also a privilege being part of Nord Anglia Education which continues to provide our students with an exceptional range of opportunities, and this year we have been particularly impressed by the breadth and depth of student engagement across many disciplines.

From the creativity shown in Art and the energy displayed in Music, to the innovation seen in STEAM subjects and the confidence demonstrated through debating, students of all ages have embraced the rich experiences available to them. It has been wonderful to see learners stepping beyond the classroom to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and pursue their passions.
Programmes such as Global Campus and our collaboration with Juilliard have further enriched the student experience, offering unique opportunities to connect, collaborate, and deepen learning on a global stage. These platforms continue to inspire curiosity, creativity, and cultural awareness across our school community.

Global Campus Update: Art Competition
We are extremely proud that Chong Phước Thiện (Lunar), Year 9, has excellently achieved First Prize in Group 3 (ages 11 to 14) in the Global Campus Art Competition with an outstanding artwork titled “Son Doong Cave”.
Competing with nearly 8,000 entries from 50 schools worldwide within the Nord Anglia Education (NAE) network, Lunar’s artwork stood out for its captivating portrayal of the natural beauty of Son Doong Cave. The piece demonstrates refined and vivid use of light, colour, and shading techniques. It delivers a strong sense of scale, stillness, and harmony, resulting in a work that is exceptional in both technical execution and emotional depth.
This achievement was evaluated by NAE education experts together with guest judge Laura Medcalf, a multidisciplinary artist whose work is inspired by nature. It reflects Lunar’s talent and persistent effort, as well as the dedicated guidance of Ms Chloe Wyatt, who supported Lunar throughout the creative journey, helping her refine his ideas and develop his artistic vision.
Congratulations to Lunar on this impressive milestone in her artistic journey ahead!
Look out for more Global Campus in 2026/27!

Live Lunch
The May Live Lunch, held on Friday, showcased an impressive range of musical talent across the Secondary school, with students performing both solo and ensemble pieces in a relaxed lunchtime concert setting. Our student and staff audience enjoyed a solo piano performance from Phu Dong (Year 9), presenting a thoughtful interpretation of Yiruma’s River Flows in You, alongside piano duets from our IGCSE Year 10 Music students performing Fauré’s Berceuse from the Dolly Suite and a lively ragtime arrangement by Smirnova.
A huge well done to all performers for their creativity, commitment and musicianship. It has been a fantastic (and much-needed) distraction during this busy exam period, bringing our school community together through live music.
