• Is BVIS a bilingual international school or an international school?

• What makes BVIS different from other international schools?

  At BVIS, we are very proud to be a one-of-a-kind school, offering the English National Curriculum, delivering the same teaching approach in both English and Vietnamese during the Foundations stage and Primary years. In the secondary stage, students are required to receive 80% to 93% of their instruction in English, with most subjects are taught in English while Vietnamese Literature remains a priority.  
• Will my child be able to follow the curriculum if we enroll halfway through the year?

  Yes, absolutely. At BVIS, we provide a personalised learning experience throughout the academic journey to help students integrate into the community as quickly as possible, even when enrolling mid-year. 

  Before starting school, students will take an entrance assessment to help us understand their current abilities and determine the most suitable support methods. Our experienced teachers will develop a personalised plan, including supplementary classes if needed 

  Additionally, BVIS’s friendly learning environment ensures that students can quickly adapt and keep pace with the curriculum. 

• Will my child who is studying in a Vietnamese school without any English be accepted?

  Their placement will depend on their age, test results, and school reports. Older children are expected to have higher levels of English because of the curriculum we follow. Our excellent English support team can help your child if they experience initial difficulties. We aim for every student to thrive and succeed, no matter their background or experience. 
• What is the purpose of the security deposit?

  Our international teacher recruitment cycle begins in October for the following academic year.  An early financial investment is made in our teaching staff, so in return we need a commitment from families. Your deposit will offset any outlay made during the recruitment process, in the event that you withdraw your child’s application at short notice. The use of a deposit is a standard practice at premium international schools across the world. 
• Does the school follow the British or Vietnamese curriculum?

  BVIS HCMC is a one-of-a-kind school in Vietnam, thanks to our unique ability to teach the National Curriculum of England into two languages that are English and Vietnamese. We use this curriculum as our framework to ensure every student receives an international-style education that maintains a strong Vietnamese perspective. 
• How is the day timetabled? Will English be integrated through the school day, or will my child study in English in the morning and Vietnamese in the afternoon, for example?

  Our English and Vietnamese curricula are integrated. The level of English increases as students enter Secondary (reaching 93% English in Key Stage 5) to prepare for their exams, but our EYFS and primary students are exposed to equal levels of English and Vietnamese. 
• How do students graduate?

  Students at BVIS will prepare for the IGCSE exams at the age of 16, followed by the A-Level exams at 18. In the final years, they receive thorough career guidance to select subjects that align with their career aspirations, interests, and academic abilities. 
• Are the qualifications obtained at BVIS HCMC recognised and valued across the globe?

  The A-Level certificate that students receive at BVIS HCMC is widely recognized worldwide. A-Level is an internationally standardized qualification, highly valued by top universities in over 100 countries, including the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and many others. With this certificate, students gain a significant advantage when applying to prestigious universities. 
• Will there be any learning support for my child?

  We offer learning support for children with mild learning difficulties. We have English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Vietnamese as an Additional Language (VAL) teams available to students who initially need extra help with their language acquisition, at no extra cost.
• How long does the admissions process take?

  The process usually takes no longer than two weeks from the first point of contact. 
• Do you offer bus service?

  Yes, at BVIS, we offer a bus service operated by a trusted third-party provider that has partnered with us since our establishment. Each bus is equipped with seat belts, and trained "bus monitors" accompany the children to ensure their safety throughout the journey 
  

  
  
• How do you help students prepare for their university application?

  To assist our students in securing admission to their first-choice universities worldwide, our University Guidance Counsellor provides continuous support in selecting subjects and identifying potential career pathways through various meetings, including one-on-one sessions. The counsellor also guides students throughout the entire application process. Additionally, BVIS hosts several university fairs throughout the year, offering families the chance to connect with representatives from leading universities.
