Jacquie is a passionate Biology and Science teacher from Australia with 19 years of teaching experience. She loves helping students see how science connects to the real world, encouraging them to notice biology in their everyday lives and to discover what truly inspires them. Building strong rapport is central to her teaching, and she is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where every student feels valued and confident to participate. Jacquie sees her role as a facilitator of learning, guiding students to take an active role in their own understanding and she thrives on the energy of a busy, curious classroom.
Jacquie is excited to immerse herself in Vietnamese culture and is keen to learn the language, recognising that this challenge mirrors the experiences many students face when learning something new. Promoting a growth mindset is an important part of her practice, and she models this through her own learning journey.
Outside the classroom, Jacquie is very social and loves spending time with friends. She enjoys keeping active, especially going to the gym and hiking. She is also an enthusiastic traveller who has explored more than 80 countries, always eager to meet new people, experience different cultures, and appreciate the incredible diversity of nature around the world. She has a particular love for Asian street food and the sense of discovery that comes with exploring new places.
