Dear Families
A very warm welcome back and I trust you had a great holiday and managed to spend lots of time with your family and friends celebrating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's Independence. A reminder that we had some wonderful assemblies last week celebrating this momentous occasion:

I would like to thank all our families and students for your incredible support and flexibility over the past few weeks as we managed some very challenging situations. Once again, I was proud of how the BVIS community came together. I know you will join me in thanking all the staff who went to extreme lengths to keep the school open or to provide high quality virtual learning experiences where necessary. As a thank you to the students, on Friday, we arranged for some special treats for them:

Last year we hosted our very first primary school Grandparent's Day. Following the huge success of last year, I am pleased to say we will be running the event again. Please see details below:

How a nurturing environment benefits children
Development:• A comforting atmosphere helps children feel secure, fostering their emotional and social growth. This security encourages risk-taking in learning and exploration.
Collaboration:
• When children feel relaxed and valued, they are more likely to engage in cooperative learning activities. This collaborative spirit nurtures teamwork and communication skills.
Learning:
• An uplifting environment stimulates curiosity and concentration, leading to improved academic outcomes. Children are more inclined to participate actively, ask questions, and engage deeply with their learning.

Our three rules foster a supportive environment rather than a top-down authority model.

I advised parents to use restorative chats to resolve conflicts and to model respectful and caring interactions at home.

• Clarity on expectations for children
• Consistency in feedback from all teachers
• The importance of collaboration between home and school for student success.

Computer Science

Hi everyone, I’m Nhat Minh, an IGCSE Computer Science student. Here are my perspectives on the subject. I enjoy both theory and programming equally. Theory lets me dive into specialised processes that are detailed and interesting, while programming gives me the practical side — problem solving, logic, and mathematics instead of memorising blindly. I like that Computer Science balances memorisation with creative problem solving.
Meet Thao Vy
