Summary of Secondary news in week 1/February (AY 2022 - 2023)

This year, we have explored a wide range of processes in Art across all year groups.

Our annual school musical was the Broadway classic “Little Shop of Horrors”, which proved a huge, ‘monster’ hit on the BVIS stage!

"After 6 hours of walking through the Sapa countryside, the groups started to arrive at the campsite and began to put up their tents. Some students were also brave enough to go for a little dip in the river to cool down from the day’s trek". This wonderful experience in beautiful nature of Nam Cang, Sapa was just a part of the amazing story about the Bronze Duke Edinburgh trip (DofE) told by Jason Lincoln, the Humanities and EAL Teacher of BVIS Hanoi.

Hanoi, November 20 - The BVIS Hanoi’s IGCSE Certificate Presentation Evening taking place in the UK Embassy in Hanoi was an event of honour to celebrate the success of BVIS students after the IGCSE examination. The IGCSE certificate is not only a reliable recognition for student academic results, but also a high-profile guarantee to world-leading universities.

On 14th November, we were privileged to welcome Prof. Paul Jensen, Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne, to deliver a masterclass in ‘Innovation and Public Policy’. Our students witnessed first-hand the format and atmosphere of a university lecture, helping them appreciate what to expect when they enrol in their course at university.

I hope that you all had a wonderful summer. The holiday ended on another high this year with the release of the IGCSE and A Level exam results.

On Thursday last week we went on a trip to Bangkok to attend the 2017 FOBISIA drama festival. There we did a lot of workshops where we focused on the work of five famous theatre practitioners; Stanislavski, Berkoff, Frantic Assembly, Brecht and Artaud.

As part of our Love Enrichment Day on February 14th , a group of Secondary pupils visited the Marriott hotel for a masterclass in Korean cooking.

One-term in, we are delighted to highlight the excellent practice happening in two of our schools in Vietnam.  These two schools are extremely different in their intake, curriculum and music department faculty but have both shown fantastic progress in their implementation of the Programme to date.

We offer Psychology as a new and exciting opportunity for Sixth Form students at BVIS.

This year, new to the curriculum at BVIS is Computer Science a subject that aims to develop students’ logical thinking.

This week, the whole of Year 11 had a chance to collaborate with Operation Smile Vietnam and visited the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital.

This year, BVIS again entered the Junior Maths Challenge from the United Kingdom.
