From Confidence to Success - How BSY Supported Me Through My IGCSE Journey

From Confidence to Success: How BSY Supported Me Through My IGCSE Journey
“Looking back, my IGCSE journey was both rewarding and full of opportunities to grow.” Following the release of this year’s IGCSE results, we spoke with Min Piti, one of our Year 11 students about their learning experience at the British School Yangon and how the support they received helped them grow and achieve success.

For students, the IGCSE years represent an important stage of their academic journey. Balancing coursework, exams, extracurricular activities, and future pathway inspirations can be both exciting and challenging. At BSY, we ensure that every student feels supported, motivated, and empowered to achieve their personal best.

Reflecting on his IGCSE experience, Piti appreciated the strong support provided by teachers, “The teachers at BSY are both supportive and approachable. They take time to give us extra lessons whenever we need them, give constructive feedback, and they also reminded us to take care of our wellbeing which helped us reduce exam stress and keep being motivated.”

He also highlighted the growth he has seen in himself in the personalised nature of learning at BSY, where teachers understand each learner's strengths, challenges, and goals. Beyond academic guidance on subject options and university pathway, Piti described how the encouragement and support of the staff helped him feel the transition to study abroad smoother and easier.

As a Nord Anglia Education school, BSY places a strong emphasis on developing well-rounded learners. Moving to another NAE school, Piti is now confident as he is already familiar with the learning approach and the values. According to him, the international environment at BSY also helped him become more open-minded and confident to study in another country.

Looking back on his IGCSE years, the student expressed pride for the growth he had found himself in personally. “Over the 2 years, I’ve become more of an independent learner. I’ve learned how to stay organised and manage my time efficiently. Looking back, I am proud of how much I’ve grown personally and academically.”

The student's story reflects the experience of many learners at The British School Yangon. Through personalised learning, dedicated staff, and a nurturing school community, we strive to help every student unlock their potential and build the confidence needed to succeed. Piti suggests to current IGCSE students, “I would suggest you all to stay organised from the beginning and build consistent study habits instead of cramming it up at last minute. Don’t be afraid to ask your teachers as they are always there to support you. Most importantly, enjoy the journey, work hard, believe in yourself as your efforts will pay off.”

As our students prepare for the next stage of their educational journeys, we remain committed to supporting them as ambitious learners, compassionate individuals, and future global citizens. Congratulations to all of our IGCSE students on their achievements. We are proud of everything they have accomplished and look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in the years ahead.
