OUR CURRICULA

At LCIS, we deliver accredited international curricula accepted by the world’s best universities and offer enriching learning opportunities to ensure that our students are equipped with the skills to shape the world they inherit.

In Primary, our students follow the enhanced International Primary Curriculum, with a tailored range of French options from a beginner’s foreign language course to truly bilingual provision. This provides an excellent transition into the diverse international secondary curriculum offer.

In Secondary, your child will be well equipped to achieve great academic outcome and continue to develop their capabilities in two or more languages. They can opt to follow a single language or bilingual IB Diploma, strengthening their application for top universities in Switzerland and abroad.

3 to 5 years old

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

In our warm early years setting, our youngest students enjoy hands-on play experiences that ignite imaginations and spark wonder. Our early years specialists encourage exploration and discovery, and provide expert care and attention. This prepares our children for the future, nurturing their skills, passions, and confidence, and instilling a lifelong love of learning.

International Primary Curriculum (IPC) & UK National Curriculum

Our primary programme combines the best elements of the National Curriculum for England and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). In an ambitious environment, students work towards their IPC learning goals, developing their knowledge, skills, and understanding through themed topics. We also prioritise the development of personal qualities, such as respect and resilience.

11 to 14 years old

Lower Secondary Curriculum

Our Year 7-9 curriculum prepares our students for the challenge of IGCSEs and the IB Diploma. As well as instilling a deeper knowledge and understanding across the subjects, we focus on the development of core competencies, such as self-management and critical thinking. Strong PSHE, service, and enrichment programmes nurture our students’ all-round growth.

14 to 16 years old

International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)

Flexible, challenging, and respected worldwide, our IGCSE curriculum is the perfect pathway to the IB Diploma. Specialist teachers unlock our students’ potential in their compulsory and chosen subjects, encouraging creative thinking, enquiry, and problem solving. Classroom learning is enriched by an international focus and complemented by extra-curricular activities that nurture holistic development.

A happy start

In the morning, our children are warmly welcomed by our teachers who make sure that they feel safe, happy and ready to start another fun and eventful day of learning adventures.

A world of discovery awaits our young minds with activities inside and outside the classroom. From role play to arts and crafts to maths, phonics, music, French, and PE (physical education), learning is hands-on, creative, and fun.

Starting the Day Right

Students begin their morning with Personal, Social, Health, and Emotional (PSHE) lessons, developing their wellbeing, as well as social and emotional competencies. Yoga sessions and mindfulness ensure our students have a great mindset for the day of learning ahead.

Building the Fundamentals

In Primary, we foster a love of reading, and our unique approach to maths provides our students with confidence, solid numeracy and problem-solving skills. Our tailored range of French options allows both beginners and native speakers to flourish. Our Music and drama lessons inspire creativity and expression.

Students enjoy a fresh, nutritious meal prepared by our onsite catering staff, then play on the school field or in the courtyard with their friends.

Inspiring a Love of Learning

Cross-curricular topic learning is at the core of our teaching philosophy, bringing to life subjects such as Geography, Science, Technology, Society, History, Art, Computing, and International Mindedness. The topic 'Chocolate,' for instance, explores the Mayan culture, the origins of beans, solids, liquids and gas, as well as the production and marketing of chocolate.

Something Extra

80+ extracurricular clubs give opportunities to enjoy art, sport, music, drama, computer science, robotics, French, German, a STEAM subject, or another academically enriching activity. There’s something for every student, guaranteed to deepen their curiosity and help them integrate with the community around them.

First things First

The day starts with a chance to focus on wellbeing through topics such as friendship, internet safety, consent and community action. It's a chance to check in with their homeroom teacher who follows closely their academic and pastoral progress.

Teaching Fresh Minds

Classes begin at 8.40 am. In a wide variety of lessons beyond the core subjects of Maths and English, students learn advanced skills such as source analysis and critical thinking.

Getting Active

Sports and PE are great confidence boosters and promote skills like resilience, communication, leadership, time management, and team spirit. Students love to represent LCIS in their favourite sport, too!

Nutritional Balance

Students eat a healthy lunch with their friends, freshly prepared onsite by our catering team. After that, there's time to socialise, and play sports on our spacious field before settling into afternoon lessons.

Design Thinking

In Design and Technology, which is enriched by our collaboration with MIT, our students can fully experience the creativity and design thinking at the heart of our teaching philosophy.

Join the Club

School finishes at 4pm, and students may choose to stay on at one of our 80+ clubs. They can nurture their interests and connect with their friends over sports, art, music, drama, computer science, robotics, STEAM, French, or German. There truly is something for everyone!

Shaping Global Citizens

Students meet their homeroom teachers and spend time focusing on their wellbeing to start the day off on the right foot. They work through a holistic programme of Physical, Social, Health and Emotional (PSHE) lessons to learn about physical and mental health, future planning, university research, finance, team building, and academic writing.

Tailored Learning

Our IBDP students can choose from a wide range of subjects, and we continually develop our range of courses in response to students’ interests and aspirations. In fact, we recently introduced Theatre Studies, Sports Science, and Computer Science for this very reason. Our university counselling team are also on hand to support students on their journey to higher education.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

PE and competitive sports boost our students' confidence, promoting team spirit, resilience, time management, and communication skills. Our students join the School Council, become House Ambassadors and organise events to develop their leadership skills.

Through the study of Theory of Knowledge (ToK), our students sharpen their independent thinking, enquiry, communication and skills of reflection and explore the essence of knowledge itself.

Finding Meaning

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), involves meaningful experiences such as charity fundraising and house events. Our students take on leadership roles strengthening skills like leadership, diplomacy, and delegation, equipping them them with the tools to make a real difference in their community.
