The first Southeast Asia region Nord Anglia Performing Arts Festival ends successfully, leaving wonderful memories in the hearts of participants! This event, organised in collaboration with the Juilliard School, is high-quality programme for talented young musicians to get together with like-minded students from schools in the region.

BVIS student becomes the Champion of International History Bee and Bowl

Our first ever Primary STEAM week was a huge success. Our staff really showed off their talents by creating amazing opportunities for our students to take part in cross-curricular learning activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths (STEAM).

As promised in last weeks’ article, I am pleased to write that the students attending the HAC Basketball event at UNIS last Thursday, enjoyed their chance to test their skills against opposing teams from other Hanoi based schools.

Thirty students, four teachers and a team of supporting family members all started their journey to Thanyapura resort in Phuket, for the U13 FOBISIA games, early on Thursday 28th February.

On the 23rd February, 30 of our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze students headed to Pu Luong to complete their assessed adventurous journeys.

To celebrate Tet this year, all Early Years and Primary students in the British Vietnamese International School, Hanoi have had a special Tet show. All the songs and dances that were performed demonstrated the cultural diversity of Vietnam with the aim of loving, widely promoting and honouring the traditional culture of Vietnamese people.

Two students in Year 8 have had their mathematical ideas published by the website NRICH. NRICH is a website run by the University of Cambridge and is designed to provide opportunities to help students develop rich mathematical thinking.

This year BVIS annual Sports Day took place at a new venue with some new and exciting sports on offer. In addition to many traditional track and field events students participated in house football and house basketball competitions.

Today BVIS Primary students had their great time with parents making traditional Chung cake at school.

On January 18, BVIS Secondary students and two representatives of SCUBA, Harrie Kerley and Duncan Kenning, had an inspiring discussion about the problem of plastic waste.

Our annual school musical was the Broadway classic “Little Shop of Horrors”, which proved a huge, ‘monster’ hit on the BVIS stage!

With the support from BVIS Hanoi, the "Le Chauffage Concert" (Sưởi Ấm) will be hosted on 5th January 2019 at The National Music Academy. You will be travelled away with music, joy, happiness and hope.

"After 6 hours of walking through the Sapa countryside, the groups started to arrive at the campsite and began to put up their tents. Some students were also brave enough to go for a little dip in the river to cool down from the day’s trek". This wonderful experience in beautiful nature of Nam Cang, Sapa was just a part of the amazing story about the Bronze Duke Edinburgh trip (DofE) told by Jason Lincoln, the Humanities and EAL Teacher of BVIS Hanoi.

Over the last few weeks, students in our Primary school have been taking part in ‘Hack The Tube’, an activity designed by our partners at MIT.

Hanoi, November 20 - The BVIS Hanoi’s IGCSE Certificate Presentation Evening taking place in the UK Embassy in Hanoi was an event of honour to celebrate the success of BVIS students after the IGCSE examination. The IGCSE certificate is not only a reliable recognition for student academic results, but also a high-profile guarantee to world-leading universities.

It is therefore incredibly exciting to share the news that Nord Anglia Education (NAE) has formed an innovative partnership with MIT to help shape our learners of the future', Chris Dawson (STEAM Co-ordinator and Science Teacher) shared about the MIT collaboration with NAE after his traning week at MIT.

On 14th November, we were privileged to welcome Prof. Paul Jensen, Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne, to deliver a masterclass in ‘Innovation and Public Policy’. Our students witnessed first-hand the format and atmosphere of a university lecture, helping them appreciate what to expect when they enrol in their course at university.

“I’m here to make sure that our students receive the most from our shared resources and our collaboration. We expect our students to be creative, facing problems and solving them, not just in dancing class but also in real life”, said Salla Saarikangas, Juilliard Dance Curriculum Specialist. She had a two-day visit to BVIS Hanoi as part of The Juilliard/Nord Anglia Education Performing Arts Programme.
