DISCOVER WHAT MAKES BSG STAND OUT
NAE Social Impact Summit 2026: Making the Invisible Visible
Sebastian, Victoria, Cynthia and Aurora proudly represented The British School of Guangzhou at the Nord Anglia Education (NAE) Social Impact Summit 2026 in Houston, Texas.
Joining 140 other student delegates from Nord Anglia schools worldwide, the four students immersed themselves in a week of learning, collaboration and action focused on values-based leadership and using their voices with purpose.
Centred around the theme NAE 2030: Making the Invisible Visible, the Summit challenged students to look beyond what is immediately seen and consider the hidden systems, behaviours, and impacts that shape our world. Through workshops, discussions, and collaborative projects, students explored how storytelling can bring overlooked issues to light and inspire positive change.
A key focus throughout the week was learning how to listen with intention, engage in meaningful dialogue, and communicate in ways that build understanding. Students took part in activities designed to help them explore different perspectives, develop empathy, and practise having open and thoughtful conversations about complex global challenges.
The Summit also encouraged students to dive deeper into United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Through interactive sessions and collaborative learning experiences, they examined the often unseen consequences of the way people produce and consume goods and services. Students were challenged to think critically about the systems behind everyday choices and consider how individuals and communities can create more sustainable futures.

One inspiring workshop focused on Nord Anglia's Social Impact Grants programme, which has awarded more than US$980,000 since 2021 to support student-led initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Students explored how innovative ideas can become real-world projects and learned about opportunities to drive meaningful change within their own communities.
The Summit also highlighted the importance of service and local action. Students spent time volunteering with the Houston Food Bank to support its work in the local community because impact often starts with simple actions.
Another memorable experience was the UNICEF Youth Advocacy Workshop, where students discovered practical strategies for turning ideas into action. The session encouraged participants to become confident advocates for issues they care about, equipping them with tools to influence change and amplify youth voices on a global stage.
The culmination of the week saw students launch their Capstone Projects, working in school teams to design solutions connected to SDG 12. Focusing on how to make hidden impacts more visible within their own communities, students collaborated to develop creative ideas that they can continue to build and implement back home.

Students also shared personal reflections on what Making the Invisible Visible means to them. These moments encouraged participants to consider how they will apply their learning and continue making a positive impact in their schools and communities.
As the Summit drew to a close, students celebrated the achievements, collaboration, and commitment demonstrated by peers from across Nord Anglia's global family of schools. They also had the opportunity to explore Houston, visiting local attractions including museums and NASA before coming together one final time for an evening of fun and celebration.
The week concluded with new friendships, fresh perspectives, and a renewed sense of purpose.
For Sebastian, Victoria, Cynthia and Aurora, the NAE Social Impact Summit 2026 was far more than a conference. It was an opportunity to learn from a global community of young leaders, discover the power of dialogue and advocacy, and realise that meaningful change often begins by making the invisible visible.
They return to Guangzhou with new ideas, stronger connections, and a deeper understanding of how their actions, voices, and leadership can help shape a better future for all.
