The Juilliard–Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme is celebrating its 10th anniversary as of today, marking a decade of transforming education through the performing arts. Launched in 2015 through a pioneering collaboration between Nord Anglia Education and The Juilliard School, the programme has become a key part of Nord Anglia’s educational approach, enriching school cultures, transforming classrooms, and inspiring a new generation of confident, creative global citizens.

BISS Puxi was delighted to welcome Ashley Newman to BISS Puxi last week. Ashley is BISS Puxi’s Juilliard Dance Curriculum Specialist. Ashley spent three days with BISS staff and students and mainly focused on providing professional development to the members of faculty who teach dance at BISS Puxi.

BISS is excited to be welcoming two visitors from The Juilliard School, New York, in the coming weeks. We look forward to greeting Dance Curriculum Specialist, Ashley Eichbauer Newman, and Drama Curriculum Specialist, Aurea Tomeski.

Last Friday, students from Key Stage 3 presented their work from this term in a showcase highlighting several weeks of hard work and preparation. While selected students presented their work from Music Technology lessons, the primary focus, however, was drumming within a large ensemble. Year 7 focused on Japanese Taiko Drumming; Year 8 African Djembe Drumming; and Year 9 performed Brazilian Samba Drumming. There is always a slight element of risk in engaging the students in two hours of high octane drumming on a Friday afternoon, but the results were amazing!

As many of the cast and staff will tell you, BISS Puxi has a reputation for putting on fantastic productions. While the production teams may vary, and the students may change, the quality of Performing Arts remains consistently excellent. This has been especially true over the past few years due to the collaboration between our school and Juilliard.

In order to help keep our community connected we invited students, parents, and teachers to participate in regular 'Virtual Choir' rehearsals. This was made possible thanks to the use of Microsoft Teams which we introduced to families through our NAESVE programme. We welcomed over 90 members to the choir which included established singers, and those new to singing!
