The university search and application process is an important focus at BIS Hanoi, and we use every tool at our disposal to help students find the right fit as supported by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP).

English as an Additional Language (EAL) is a vital support system at BIS Hanoi. In order to support our students at BIS Hanoi, we have several EAL teachers who work with students of all abilities to help develop their English language skills, specifically: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Most of our students have ambitions for moving abroad following Sixth Form to study at university. Every year these graduates follow in the footsteps of our alumni who have attended some of the world’s best universities and whose success stories are inspiring proof of the exciting pathways which await them. We have prepared hundreds of past students for the transition from school to university, and have long perfected the recipe for ensuring them the best future international pathway. So, what’s key to setting them up for success?

In an ever changing, digital world, it’s more important than ever to keep up to date with emerging technology. With this in mind, the Computer Science department is constantly reviewing and updating their curriculum from KS3 through to IB to ensure that our students are equipped with the necessary skills for life beyond school.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is a rich, rigorous and rewarding programme which our students embark on at the start of Year 12. It has been designed to prepare learners for the multi-disciplinary workplaces of the future.

If there is something that we have all learnt from 2020 so far, it is that there is a need as individuals to be able to respond and adapt to a rapidly changing context. We in fact know, that this isn’t exclusive to periods of global pandemics, but that world-wide we are in a period of time where technological development is moving forward at a rapid pace. Known as the Information Age. Throughout this period of significant change, we rely on skills such as inquiry across a growing number of sources, reflection on our own personal journey and ultimately, care for both ourselves, others in our community and our planet.

BIS Hanoi Secondary School is proud to be adopting VIA Character Strengths into both our Pastoral and Academic programs this year. VIA strengths highlights 24 character strengths that across cultures, nationalities and religions we can all agree make up what is best in human beings.

In Geography, so far this half term we have been using the Mega-Map to learn about a variety of different topics.

A required component of the IBDP, the Group 4 Experimental Sciences projects allow students to think creatively and collaborate on a project of their own design.

The mathematics team aim to motivate and inspire all our students within a stimulating, challenging and positive environment, and I have no doubt that our students at British International School, Hanoi will look forward to studying Maths and striving to achieve to their full potential.
