BIS Hanoi's Performing Arts students participated in the Nord Anglia Southeast Asia Performing Arts festival in Kuala Lumpur from March 28th to April 1st. From Orchestra to Drama, Jazz, Choir, and Dance, our students immersed themselves in their craft.

Led by the school's Performing Arts team, this spectacular show brought together a talented cast, crew, stage design team, orchestra, and logistic, all of whom were students and teachers from the BIS Hanoi community.

The BIS Hanoi Secondary Choir, led by our dedicated music teacher, Mr. Scott, recently delivered a mesmerising performance at Cua Bac Church for the annual Remembrance Service in Hanoi.

In a truly remarkable showcase of talent and creativity, our school had the privilege of hosting Linh An, a dance artist from Theatre Dance Vietnam, for an awe-inspiring dance theatre workshop.

With the exciting new additions that arrived last week, our inventory totals several thousand different individual items and details everything from our smallest headphone adapters to our baby-grand piano.

What an incredible honour for our students to perform at the UK Festival 2023, organised by the British Embassy in Vietnam!

This week, Performing Arts students had the unique opportunity to work with a leading British military band when we welcomed the Band of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers to our school.

After months of preparation and rehearsal, our students and teachers from across the school finally brought the classic Chicago Musical to life on the 7th and 8th of December.

On Wednesday October 5th, we welcomed Backyard Theatre Ensemble (BYTE), an Australian theatre company, and drama students from BVIS Hanoi for an amazing day of hands-on learning and watching of the touring production of Hedda, Nora, Julie and me.

Leeel Kwak, our Year 7 student, was recently admitted as a second violin member of the Vietnam Youth Orchestra (VYO).

Following a challenging year of virtual school and a postponed school musical, the Performing Arts team were eager to showcase the amazing talent of BIS students this summer term.

Our students were invited to submit a recording of themselves playing the traditional march "Slaidburn" by William Rimmer, and over 100 videos from 35 of our schools across 21 countries were submitted.

We are extremely lucky to enjoy the benefits of Nord Anglia’s collaboration with The Juilliard School across the age range at BIS, with access to curriculum resources, staff develop opportunities, global projects and world-class professionals in theatre, dance and music.

This week saw three performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by students from across the Secondary School, bringing together musicians, actors, technicians and managers to give life to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous musical.

Thursday, 3rd December, saw over 150 students from across the school perform in our Winter Concert. This event brought together students from Year 2 through to Year 13 to share their Performing Arts learning from both ECAs and the classroom. The Auditorium was full, the audience was excited and the students rose to the occasion: without exception each ensemble performed superbly.

Results are in! We are delighted to share with you that out of the 850 Nord Anglia pupils that entered the Young Musician of the Year Competition 3 BIS Hanoi Students are amongst those receiving awards.

As school life returns to normal, the Performing Arts department have been swinging back in to action to see out the month with two exciting Live Lunch performances.

Christmas is coming and at BIS Hanoi, we celebrate the day with many different ways. One of which is our special Live Lunch – Winter Editions that excited many parents and students and got them into the Christmas spirit!

We are incredibly proud to announce that our talented student, Eric Jang (soon to be in Year 6), recently took 1st prize in the 5th Chopin International Piano Competition in Thailand. Following on from that success, he also went on to take 2nd & 3rd place in the Hong Kong International Piano Competition.

Almost 160 students and teachers from nine schools across Southeast Asia participated in a three-day event for young talented musicians led by Juilliard-affiliated conductor.
