On Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24th, VHSMUN attended the Houston Area MUN with over 1100 delegates from Houston and across Texas.

Congratulations to Pavithr G., Vaani G. Divyesh K. and Leyah M. who are National Merit Semifinalists.

Class of 2019’s Teddy E. began at Village as a kindergartener. His variety of interests were nurtured throughout his years here. As goalie for the Varsity lacrosse team for four years with a passion for engineering, Teddy is now a graduating senior, signing to play lacrosse at Maine Maritime Academy as he studies marine engineering there.

Class of 2019 Senior Sharan S. was recently accepted into a highly competitive B.S./D.O. Program at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). Out of 8,000 applications, 800 were called to attend and interview on-campus at the NSU's Shark Preview Weekend. There were only 80 spots available for the medical school and Sharan was one of two participants accepted from the state of Texas.

At this weekend's University of St. Thomas Bold Ideas Pitching Competition, three Village School 10th graders won 2nd place. Vivian T.'s project took 2nd place for Entrepreneurship and Mariela A. and Beatriz D won 2nd Place in Social Entrepreneurship for their business idea. We had a total of 65 STEAM Superhero product models/prototypes developed and presented by our high school students, competing against 19 college teams.

THIMUN, The Hague International Model United Nations, is the largest international MUN conference held each year in 3 locations, The Hague, Singapore and Doha. The Village High School MUN team has worked extremely hard these past few years to be recognized as one of the top 25 MUN High School teams in the nation. Our team decided to push themselves even further this year by attending the THIMUN conference in Doha Qatar, January 23th - 25th. There were over 1600 students from around the world that participated and the students were so excited to have this opportunity.

Zoe Lalji is being honored for her work in launching and leading the Lalji ALS Foundation and ALS Heroes. She was recognized January 12 at The Mad Hatter’s Luncheon, a Houston fundraising event hosted by Le Jardin de Nicole, and spoke about her business experiences so far.

High School students competed in the first ever TAPPS Fall Photo Contest and saw incredible success. Five students placed and one was select as Best in Class for the 6A Division. Winners are as follows.

Two of our own Village School Entrepreneurship Diploma students, Hajra A. and Kurumi T., had the unique opportunity to intern for critically acclaimed Houston fashion designer, Danny Ngyuen Couture and assist with his most recent fashion show fresh off the Paris runway. From seating arrangement design to readying the models to walk the runway, the students experienced first-hand the behind the scenes work and preparation required to execute such a premier event.

The Village School Model United Nations team competed in the Central Texas Model United Nations (CTMUN) conference in Austin Nov. 10.  They were awarded Best Large School Delegation as well as a multitude of individual awards.

Entrepreneurship student, Divyesh K. attended the University of Houston's’ EXPLORE Business Summer Institute hosted by the Bauer College of Business this summer and received second place for his teams innovative business solution.

Student-athlete Ashley Turnage attended the Purdue University PREFACE Engineering program this summer and returned home with 4 Top Honors.

The Village School is proud to announce that students achieved strong results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for the 2017/18 academic school year. Village high school student Angela Z. scored 44 out of 45 points, which is the highest in Village history. Alex L. also had a high score of 43 out of 45 points. Below are a few other highlights:

The Village High School received the Highest Distinction Award at the National High School MUN Conference held March 2nd - 5th in NYC.

The Village School, in collaboration with ExxonMobil, Houston Methodist and NASA, recently finalized and outlined the details for the second Pumps and Pipes Summer STEAM Academy. The academy is a four-week summer academy level program designed for high school students (rising 9th through 12th graders) who are interested in pursuing further study in an interdisciplinary approach to science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM). This is a selective program that requires that students have a working knowledge of at least Algebra 1 and a basic to advanced knowledge of physics, chemistry and biology.

The Village School Model United Nations team participated in the Houston MUN conference at the University of Houston January 25 and 26. In attendance were 45 schools and more than 1,200 students. The Village team did extremely well winning a total of 18 awards including Best Large Delegation.

The Village High School’s Speech & Debate team had another fantastic tournament at Klein High School.

The Village Quiz Bowl team competed in Kickoff Classic XIII at Seven Lakes High School on Saturday, October 15.
