Vrisan Shah didn’t always enjoy writing, but his parents saw his talents and encouraged him to enter a writing contest when he was in third grade at The Village School. Three years later, he’s the author of three books. "Initially, I didn't enjoy writing, but I always had stories swirling in my head," explained Vrisan Shah, now a sixth grader at The Village School. "When my parents suggested I enter a writing contest, I thought, 'Why not give it a try?'"

She is the founder and owner of Elcove, an environmentally conscious company that provides a variety of cleaning product capsules and reusable bottles. Elcove’s toxin-free products aim to replace the single-use plastic bottles often found in grocery store cleaning aisles.

The Village School BioQuattuor team won first place in the national Thomas Edison Pitch Contest against more than 50 middle school teams. They presented their sweat-powered insulin nanobot prototype to the panel of judges May 17 via a video conference and have been awarded a 3D printer for the school as well as individual gift cards.
