About Us

St Andrews International School Bangkok is proud to host  VEX Robotics Competitions in Thailand. We organise both VIQRC and V5RC qualifying events annually, and have done so for over six years. This page provides details on upcoming events, past competitions, and our mission to promote STEM education and VEX Robotics in the Asia-Pacific region.

Our Mission

In February 2025, we partnered with the RAT Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to running STEM and robotics events across Asia. This partnership aims to collaborate with teams and schools that share our values and ethics, fostering a strong and inclusive robotics community.

Integration in Primary and High School

Beyond competitions, VEX Robotics is an integral part of our curriculum from Year 4 to Year 13, utilising the full VEX Robotics suite. This includes:

  • Primary School: VEX 123, VEX GO, and VEX IQ

  • High School: VEX V5, VEX Workcell, and VEX EXP

In addition to curriculum integration, we emphasise extracurricular activities (ECAs) to coach teams for national and international competitions. Our teams have qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championships four times, and we strive to provide students, teachers, and coaches with an experience on par with the global stage.

What is VEX Robotics?

VEX Robotics provides accessible, scalable, and affordable STEM solutions for formal and informal education. Beyond engineering principles, VEX fosters creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving—empowering students to become the problem solvers of tomorrow.

Junior Competitions: VEX IQ Competition

The VEX IQ Competition challenges teams to design and build robots to compete in a game-based engineering challenge. Students apply classroom STEM concepts while developing teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels, culminating in the VEX Robotics World Championship each April.

Senior Competitions: VEX V5 Competition

The VEX V5 Competition is built on 20 years of experience in STEM education. The V5 electronics system is powerful and flexible, making engineering accessible for beginners while offering advanced design possibilities for experienced students.

VEX Robotics helps students develop critical computational thinking skills essential for success in both the workforce and everyday life.
