Students at St Andrews International School Bangkok have begun an exciting artificial intelligence project: integrating Nord Anglia’s “Misty the Robot” with conversational AI model, ChatGPT. Under the guidance of our Head of Robotics, Mr Rob Parker, they recently presented their results to Regional Managing Director, Mr Shaun Williams, as well as the Board of Directors at St Andrews, with the proposition of growing this project as a collaborative research venture across Nord Anglia schools.

St Andrews Bangkok marked the 50th anniversary of the iconic Rubik’s Cube with a vibrant event hosted by the Embassy of Hungary and the World Cube Association of Thailand. The celebration honoured the legacy of this brilliant Hungarian invention, featuring inspiring speeches, speed-cubing demonstrations, and hands-on workshops.

The STA Dance Festival 2024 brought together nearly 100 students for an exhilarating day of workshops and masterclasses led by professional dancers. Exploring diverse styles from hip-hop to Afro-dance, students showcased their creativity and skills in a vibrant finale performance. Highlights included an unforgettable show by Urban Dance Squad and a special hip-hop masterclass for High School dancers.

Congratulations to Pimdao and Alfie from our STA Swim Academy for representing the Thailand Junior National Swim Team at the 46th SEA Aquatics Age Group Championships 2024! Competing alongside Southeast Asia’s best, these incredible swimmers showcased their talent, dedication, and hard work.

The St Andrews Bangkok 3rd Annual STA Gymnastics Festival showcased the incredible talent and determination of nearly 120 gymnasts, many competing for the first time or at a higher level. Organised by Ms Bogi and her STA Gymnastics team, the event highlighted the strength of St Andrews’ gymnastics programme through various stunning routines, cheered on by a supportive community of parents, teachers, and friends.

From 11th to 15th November, Friendship Week brought our Primary School community together to celebrate kindness and positive connections. Under the theme ‘Choosing Kindness’, students engaged in activities exploring what it means to be a good friend, while PSHE lessons focused on understanding and strengthening friendships. A special assembly for the Foundation Stage highlighted the importance of "kind words, kind hands, and kind feet," and a Parent Workshop provided practical tips for fostering kindness at home. 

Student House leaders at St Andrews Bangkok organised an unforgettable Halloween party for Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) students. The event featured a carnival-themed haunted house, games, and live entertainment. With over 300 attendees, the party was a spooktacular success thanks to the collaboration, creativity, and meticulous planning of everyone involved. The night raised over 40,000 THB for charity, creating both lasting memories and a meaningful impact.

On 11th November 2024, our Year 12 Language B and Ab Initio students in French and Spanish enjoyed cultural trips to immersive restaurants in Bangkok. The French students visited Chesa, a Swiss restaurant, where they sampled authentic dishes like fondue and raclette while practising their language skills. Meanwhile, the Spanish students explored Danzante, a vibrant Mexican restaurant, experiencing traditional cuisine, drinks, and a beautifully decorated Day of the Dead altar, bringing their classroom learning to life.

A big thank you to our St Andrews community for supporting the Eco Beasts’ Paper Bag Initiative! Together, we collected hundreds of reusable paper bags for the Uniform Shop, earning house points and making a meaningful impact on sustainability. This project highlights how simple actions, like reusing bags, can create positive change—let's keep the momentum going!

We recently welcomed metacognition specialists Emily and Sarah from the Nord Anglia Education Central Team for an engaging parent workshop. As leaders in the Nord Anglia Metacognition Research Project, they shared valuable insights and practical strategies to support children’s thinking and learning. Through interactive sessions, parents explored key routines that enhance classroom experiences and foster a lifelong love for learning. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to this inspiring event!

Year 6 and Year 7 students showcased their creativity at this year's STA Poetry Slam, exploring the theme ‘Maths is Everywhere.’ Congratulations to Lily (Year 7), Hana (Year 6), and Emerson (Year 6) for their exceptional performances, with Lily taking First Place for her poem ‘The Infinite Equation.’ Well done to all participants for making this event such a remarkable success!

Celebrating dance at St Andrews Bangkok, a full day organised for Primary and High School (Year 3 to Year 13) students interested in joining dance masterclasses and workshops led by professional dance artists in Bangkok. 

We proudly announce that Kate S, one of our exceptional Year 13 students, has been selected to join the prestigious Nord Anglia Student Advisory Board as part of the Social Impact Programme. In this role, Kate will collaborate with other student leaders worldwide to evaluate and allocate grants for impactful social initiatives. Her dedication to driving positive change inspires us all, and we look forward to seeing the incredible contributions she will make both at St Andrews Bangkok and within the global Nord Anglia community!

In October, our High School celebrated Black History Month with a series of enriching activities that highlighted the achievements and culture of Black artists. Our Art Department’s album cover project allowed students to showcase their creativity by designing covers for Black musicians, with top entries earning a visit to the Gustav Klimt immersive exhibition. The month also featured a “Celebration of Black Arts” event, hip-hop performances, and a special Afrobeats dance performance at our High School International Day, led by Year 12 students as part of their CAS project, "Heritage and Hope," to promote year-round awareness of Black History.

With the goal of providing meaningful help to the flood victims in the northern regions of Thailand, our entire community at St Andrews Bangkok came together to raise funds and donations for the affected families. In the span of a few short weeks, added to donations of food and clothing, we managed to raise an astounding total of 386,676.50 THB in donation funds. To all students, teachers, parents, and staff who participated in our efforts and contributed to this cause—thank you!

St Andrews Bangkok proudly hosted the VEX Robotics VIQRC Rapid Relay Tournament, bringing together 56 teams from across Thailand for an exciting day of teamwork and coding challenges. Our student volunteers and staff helped make the event a success, with St Andrews teams achieving impressive results, including a Middle School division win. We look forward to welcoming 100 teams from 13 countries for the upcoming world-qualifying tournament on 23-24 November.

STA alumni Famous and Enya from the Class of 2022 recently visited our High School, sharing their experiences and insights into the BAScii program at Chulalongkorn University’s School of Integrated Innovation. Their stories captivated students, offering inspiration and guidance on the exciting paths available through this innovative program. This is another proud moment for our school as STA graduates continue to excel and support our community.

Last Friday, the STA Primary campus was transformed into a celebration of all things maths! The day was packed with engaging, hands-on activities across all year groups, making maths truly come alive for our students.
