At St Andrews Bangkok, the transition from IGCSE to the IB Diploma Programme is carefully designed to ensure academic continuity and student success. This overview highlights how IGCSE subjects align with the IB’s six subject groups, enabling students to make informed choices as they transition into Senior Studies. With personalised guidance and a balanced curriculum, students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the IB.

Julianna, a member of the Class of 2025, has been accepted to study Medicine (MBBS) at Queen Mary University of London, Malta. Driven by a passion for biomedical sciences, genetics, and the origins of disease, she prepared through rigorous studies (IB Higher Level Biology and Chemistry), pre-college courses, observing medical procedures, and volunteer work with Operation Smile, focusing on early disease detection and access to medical treatment.

As part of the St Andrews Careers programme, Year 10 and Year 12 students had the valuable opportunity to hear from 20 industry professionals, including alumni, about various career pathways. The morning panel discussions provided insights into professional routes, required qualifications, and essential interpersonal skills for workplace success.

As Term 3 comes to an end, three senior students, Eleonore, Natalie, and Ananya, reflect on their experiences in the IB Diploma Programme at St Andrews International School Bangkok. Perhaps one of the most meaningful projects Ananya and Natalie took on during their senior studies was starting a foundation with a few other friends called Today4tomorrow – an initiative to provide opportunities to underprivileged girls in Thailand.

Both agree that the programme has provided them with more than just academic excellence, fostering global perspectives and camaraderie. Their success stories highlight the school's commitment to nurturing resilient global citizens.

To shed light on this thrilling transition, on 13 December 2023 a group of St Andrews alumni, who have successfully navigated or are currently going through their university years, popped by our High School campus for a visit.

Upcoming are some very informative university fairs and events that will be held in Bangkok between 20th and 30th September 2023. University fairs provide a unique opportunity for students and parents to explore a diverse range of colleges and universities, both domestic and international.

Venesa is planning to pursue her studies in Neuropsychology BSc. She has received offers from the University of Toronto, University British Columbia, Queens Mary University London, University of Nottingham, University of Bath, Kingston University London, and the University of Manchester.

My university plans for after graduation consist of studying Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam. To receive this offer, I had to get through several rounds of admissions such as an essay, a financial and study plan, a test and an interview, which results in only 200 applicants being selected amongst the thousands of applications.

I am headed to New York City to study photography. It's very exciting and only slightly terrifying but I am sad to be moving on from St Andrews.

I am planning to go to Boston University for university, and there I hope to continue my passion in sports and academics.
