On Tuesday afternoon this week we had a short visit from Mr Andy Puttock, Education Director, Nord Anglia Education. It was his first visit to Cambodia and to Northbridge and is part of his tour of the 56 Nord Anglia schools around the world!

In the world of education, tests scores and academic reports often dominate the focus of students, parents, and educators. Too often we ignore the important aspects of learning that are not easily measured using quantitative data.

At Northbridge, we want all of our children to be strong, independent and compassionate people who demonstrate our ‘caring hearts, ambitious minds’ philosophy. Sometimes in daily life, problems and conflicts arise, and we want our children to be equipped to deal with these situations fairly and peacefully.

We have our wonderful new books and they are all out on display to see. New books are denoted with a yellow circle sticker on the spine so you can easily tell.

This past weekend the Northbridge Nagas were honored to host the first ISSAPP (International Schools Sports Association of Phnom Penh) swim meet. There were 186 swimmers competing in 51 different events ranging in ages from 6 to 18. It was an amazing day with great energy from all the fans and athletes.

In last week’s Primary blog, Kate Watson-Penhall discussed the importance of building reading stamina in young students. Many Primary students enjoy reading and value their library time. Once students reach Secondary, they are less likely to read for enjoyment. Students choose to spend their free time in other ways, engaging more with friends, extra curricular activities, and technology.

Northbridge International School Cambodia was delighted to welcome Nord Anglia Education Chief Executive Officer Andrew Fitzmaurice for a day-long visit on Thursday 30 August, during which he held a meeting with Okhna Kith Meng, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Cambodia-based Royal Group of Companies and school founder.

Mr Andrew Fitzmaurice CEO of Nord Anglia Education joined the staff, parents and students of Northbridge this week to formally open the new Sports Hall.

We look at the recent improvements in dance and music facilities, equipment and programs at Northbridge International School Cambodia.

There have been many improvements at the Cafeteria over the summer. Our new convenient debit card system is now up and running, with a varied menu that offers a wide range of options daily for both Primary and Secondary students.

In our preparations at the start of the school year, I was reminded of a blog post I read a few months ago written by George Couros - author of the book "The Innovator's Mindset". In his post, he discussed the eight elements he regarded as necessary in today’s classrooms in order for students to develop the dispositions and literacies required to succeed.

We are delighted to share some images of a range of our new facilities that are in the very final stages of completion. We look forward to you visiting many of them in person over time to see how they are adding great value to the educational opportunities Northbridge students receive.

We are excited to share the new developments in our athletics program for this year. Northbridge has partnered with the International School of Ho Chi Minh City to create a new sports league, the ASEAN Sports & Activities Conference (ASAC).
