At Northbridge International School Cambodia we have the privilege of being able to offer our students an insight into the design world through our MYP Curriculum.

We are really pleased that we have been able to get swimming up and running again for our PE classes, LEAP and Bronze, Silver and Gold swim teams at Northbridge International School Cambodia.

This year the Grade 11 Economics students at Northbridge International School Cambodia are studying the new version of the DP Economics course, which has a greater focus on student investigation of real world case studies. During this week’s classes, students are starting to investigate how the decisions of producers and consumers can affect society, and how governments can intervene to either encourage this activity if it is positive, or discourage it if those effects are negative.

Despite campus being closed to students for a fortnight, this has still been a productive, exciting and enjoyable week of learning at Northbridge International School Cambodia.

The IB Diploma Programme at Northbridge International School Cambodia provides a fantastic opportunity for growth and development of our students. It provides a fantastic stepping stone onto further education.

Grade 10 students at Northbridge International School Cambodia will this academic year sit exams for Mathematics and English Language and Literature. These online exams are considered cutting edge in assessment and are part of the suite of eAssessments externally moderated by the IB. The IB externally moderates MYP eAssessment and DP examinations.

There are many special and unique aspects of learning at a Nord Anglia school like Northbridge International School Cambodia, but one of the most exciting things to me is our collaboration with The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

On Monday October 24th Northbridge International School Cambodia held its annual Extended Essay Exhibition. The Extended Essay is the culminating project of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and consists of a written report of 4,000 words. The students work on it over the course of many months and meet regularly with their assigned supervisor to ensure their research meets the exacting standards of the IB.

Did you know the first stages of reading are listening? Listening helps babies and children to understand the meaning and function of words, which is the foundation of reading. Before a child can read it is important that they have many listening and speaking opportunities. Listening to a variety of sounds in the environment and words, giving the child a bank of vocabulary, is a very important step in their language and pre-literacy development. These are steps that can be taken before they join school and skills that the students will continue to develop throughout their time at Northbridge International School Cambodia.

STEAM is part of our daily life. STEAM covers five subject areas, namely science, technology, engineering, arts and maths. Early Learning children at Northbridge International School Cambodia explore these subject areas through self-directed play and exploration. Teachers provide provocation tables that develop curiosity and promote inquisitive and curious minds.

It is something that is observed across all grade levels but more so amongst middle school students at Northbridge International School Cambodia - student frustration leading to self defeat. Parents and teachers recognize the signs—a resigned sigh, an embarrassed glance at the floor, or a comment like “I’ll never be able to do this,” or “I’m not smart enough.”

Last Friday we engaged in our mental health well-being day at Northbridge International School Cambodia, when students across the school dressed in green or purchased a green ribbon and thought about what mental health meant to them and ways in which we could help each other feel good about themselves. This was an initiative organised by the Secondary Stuco in conjunction with Secondary action teams.
