Today, with the rise of auto-translators and the domination of the English language online, one might be tempted to think that learning another language at Northbridge International School Cambodia is an unnecessary endeavour or a tiring chore. However, in our globalised world, the ability to converse in more than one language and to appreciate other cultures remains more relevant than ever.

A Mars rover called Perseverance will be landing on Mars on 19 February at approximately 3am Phnom Penh time. Though this isn’t the first time that a rover has landed on Mars, it is a momentous occasion for all of us here at Northbridge International School Cambodia as a MIT - a Nord Anglia Education partner - professor, Dr Jeff Hoffman, is involved.

One of the well documented challenges that our Northbridge International School Cambodia students have faced over the last 12-months is the near-complete absence of organised sport opportunities.

In many international schools, English is the medium of instruction, and with English becoming extremely popular with children and teenagers in many parts of the world, and quite evidently at Northbridge International School Cambodia, our Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Russian, French, Spanish and Japanese students have become accustomed to speak their thoughts in English. Do they think in English, too? Do they analyse in English, too? Do they reflect in English, too? Do they express their feelings in English, too?

There is no question that the digital age has transformed education at schools such as Northbridge International School Cambodia. In fact, there are very few industries that are as fast moving as the technology industry.

We have now completed the second week of practical classes at Northbridge International School Cambodia since the reopening of our campus. It is great that our students are back to 'normal' in regards to what they can and can't do at school, especially in our PHE lessons.

As the Grade 12 students at Northbridge International School Cambodia approach their mock exams their stress levels and anxiety will increase. Whatever the root causes of the stress it can have a big impact on the well being and mental health of the students.

Welcome to Semester 2 at Northbridge International School Cambodia, I do hope you managed to have some time together as a family over the winter break and the students were able to relax.

A new year is traditionally celebrated around the world, and has been the case for thousands of years. However, ringing in 2021 meant the familiar celebrations of parties, food and fireworks were likely tempered for Northbridge International School Cambodia families.

Northbridge International School Cambodia’s Arts Council presented Creativity Night virtually for the second year in a row, due to restrictions. Creativity Night is a student-led event that is beloved by the community; this year, our students and staff were able to express their creativity through the performing arts.

The Northbridge International School Cambodia Student Council began this year with each class deciding who would represent them. The students had to complete an application, and in some classes, there was even an election!

This semester, our Northbridge International School Cambodia Grade 9 students in the Startup Studio set out on their journey of entrepreneurship, aimed at equipping themselves with the mindset and skills critical to success in today’s marketplace.

By the time this post is published, most students at Northbridge International School Cambodia will have finished their Semester 1 summative assessment tasks and will possibly have some results and feedback already.
