It has been a very exciting semester for the Houses this year at Northbridge International School Cambodia, and we have increased our presence even more across the school, forging bonds, sportsmanship and a sense of belonging to all students.

Studies show that a family's engagement has a direct positive impact on a child's learning success at any school, including Northbridge International School Cambodia.

Helping others has always been at the heart of the International Baccalaureate curriculum, giving Northbridge International School Cambodia students the opportunity to engage with the world around them and develop both empathy and the organizational skills necessary to make a change in their world.

This year, a Wellbeing Action Team was established for the staff of Northbridge International School Cambodia.

The Northbridge International School Cambodia Secondary Student Council is made up of a representative from each advisory of the secondary school, and is led by the Treasurer – Sonisa Sambath, Secretary - Sethika Sok, Vice President – Jiwoo (Jiu) Yum, and President - Gyubin Han.

This semester, Northbridge International School Cambodia grade 12 DP Business Management students have been exploring the role of motivation in the workplace.

There are some essential skills students must learn in their academics at Northbridge International School Cambodia. Among these, writing is undoubtedly one of the most important skills all successful students must acquire. However, writing is considered the most difficult skill to be taught and learned, as it requires hard work and constant practice on a regular basis.

Digital math platforms, sometimes known as math apps, have become increasingly common in recent years, including at Northbridge International School Cambodia. These platforms, which offer an online space for children to learn and practice mathematical concepts and skills, became ubiquitous in education due to the period of global school closures brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On 24 October, the Northbridge International School Cambodia grade 12 class partook in the Extended Essay Exhibition which was an opportunity for them to showcase their accomplishments. They were given the chance to answer questions and impart their wisdom to the grade 11 cohort who are just beginning their own Extended Essay journey.

The last few weeks have seen the Northbridge International School Cambodia senior volleyball players, junior basketball players and primary football team take part in ISSAPP competitions citywide. This return to normal competition has been greatly received by our community after the covid affected period. Long may it continue.

Reading is not only a fundamental literacy skill but a life skill. It allows us all, including students at Northbridge International School Cambodia, to access learning and connects us to a world of information and ideas.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a required class for all students wishing to complete the International Baccalaureate Programme Diploma, which is what most students graduate with at Northbridge International School Cambodia. It is often described as a class that asks the students to examine the basis for knowledge, in other words, how do we know that we know something?

When we say that "children are the future", we assume that childhood is the most critical moment in the development of any human being. For this reason, when it comes to investing in their training as active and dynamic beings in the task of building a better world, the Early Learning section at Northbridge International School Cambodia becomes the ideal place, the most fertile ground to cultivate not only skills and knowledge but also dreams and interests that will ultimately define the lives of our students.

As a teacher with a background in information communications technology, I understand why it is easy to feel left behind – Web 3.0, NFTs , the metaverse, hyperautomation, extended reality, gamification, augmented reality, quantum computing, “Internet of things" ... even if you have heard of some of these words, how many people really know what they are or what their potential is? And while the “distributed cloud” sounds like a rainy day at Northbridge International School Cambodia, it really has nothing to do with the weather.

Monday 10 October is World Mental Health Day, where at Northbridge International School Cambodia we will be raising awareness about mental health issues around the world, and working towards reducing stigma associated with mental illness.

Our first Unit of Inquiry in Grade One at Northbridge International School Cambodia has been a time of connecting and feeling belonging as we get to know ourselves and each other.

We have already planned and prepared so much for this semester and all under the wonderful guidance of our student leaders at Northbridge International School Cambodia.
