Tejeda, a standout at North Broward Prep, was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 14th round, 410th overall. During his high school career, he dominated the mound with a perfect 15-0 record and showcased his offensive prowess, hitting .355 with four home runs and 30 RBIs as a senior. Despite being picked in the 19th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Tejeda chose to play his first year of college ball at the University of Florida, continuing to impress with his exceptional talent and dedication to the game.

A prestigious program recognizes high school seniors in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, who excel academically and contribute significantly to their schools and communities. Established in 1959 by John S. Knight, the program honors students in fifteen categories. Nominees go through a process to craft their project, be nominated by their school, and interviewed by independent judges. Winners receive $2,000, a Silver Knight statue, and a medallion. Honorable Mentions receive $500 and a plaque, funded by the Blank Family Foundation.
