Clay Lamp for Diwali Celebration

The Foundation 1 children have been learning about the Hindu celebration Diwali this week. Diwali will be celebrated this coming Sunday.  One of our parents dressed up in traditional Indian clothes and talked to the students about what Diwali is and how it is celebrated - by lighting the home with candle and lanterns and celebrating with sweets and sometimes a present. The Foundation 1 children thought this was splendid and asked our parent if they could also join the festivities! The children decorated diyas, traditional clay pots that can hold a candle, with paint and sparkles and proudly took these home to share with their families. It's an exciting time to be expecting the Diwali celebration by the end of this week for the students.
