Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a wonderful Mid-Autumn Festival celebration with family and friends. It was lovely last week to feel the excitement throughout the school as the children talked about the festival, shared their plans, and enjoyed activities such as lantern-making and even some mooncake tasting.

Through special events and festivals such as Mid-Autumn Festival, children have opportunities to learn about different cultures and traditions, develop new vocabulary, and explore the customs and experiences that shape the world around them. These meaningful experiences help children make connections between their own lives, their community, and the wider world.

There are so many ways for children to learn, discover, and express themselves creatively, and it has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and curiosity when exploring this festival. Not only did the children learn about an important cultural celebration, but they also developed a range of important skills along the way. As they designed and created lanterns, they strengthened their fine motor skills. Working together on shared activities helped build friendships, collaboration, and communication skills. Mooncake tasting also provided opportunities for children to express their opinions, describe their preferences, and confidently share their likes and dislikes with others.

Thank You for Attending Parent-Teacher Conferences

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences last week. These conversations are an important part of every child's learning journey, and we hope you found them valuable and informative.

When we work together, sharing what we see in school and what you observe at home, we gain a fuller understanding of each child. This partnership enables us to celebrate each child’s progress, identify next steps, and provide the support and challenge needed for every child to thrive.

Parent Workshop: Literacy and Phonics 9th October

We will be hosting our first Parent Workshop of the year, focusing on Literacy and Phonics on Friday 9th October

Join us as we share how we support children's literacy development, teach phonics and early reading skills, and nurture a lifelong love of stories, books, and reading.

Date: 9th October
Time: 8:45am – 9:45am
Duration: Approximately one hour
During the workshop, we will:

  • Share our approach to literacy and phonics teaching.
  • Share practical strategies used in classrooms to support early reading and writing.
  • Introduce some of the resources we use with children.
  • Provide hands-on opportunities for parents to experience activities and approaches that we use in school.

Speech and Language Screening Opportunity 12th October

On 12th October, we will be welcoming Henriette Olesen, Speech and Language Therapist, to campus to offer optional speech and language screening appointments for families who may be interested. Screening can provide valuable insight into a child's communication development, including speech clarity, listening skills, understanding, vocabulary development, and confidence in communicating with both adults and peers. Further information about booking and screening arrangements will be shared separately.

Wishing you all a great week ahead.

Yours sincerely,

Ruth Hanson
