Aibhlin O’Leary, Child’s Rights Schools Coordinator from UNICEF, who awarded us The Gold Award, which we have been working on over the past few years.

NAIS Dublin aims to be a school where children’s rights are at the heart of our ethos and culture, to improve well-being and to develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential. As part of this plan we are working towards recognition as a ‘Rights Respecting School’, an award given to schools on behalf of UNICEF Ireland.

All Nord Anglia students are empowered to make a difference and to positively impact the world. Through our collaboration with UNICEF, students participate in meaningful activities to effect change in their schools and communities at large. To focus these efforts on specific goals, UNICEF annually challenges Nord Anglia students to raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are a collection 17 goals set by the United Nations regarding social and economic development issues.

All of us learn by participating in something bigger than ourselves, in something which transcends us. Service learning blends experiential learning with community service. But it is only vital if done properly!

Nord Anglia students are preparing to travel to New York next week to present their work on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals during a special side meeting at the United Nation’s High-Level Political Forum.
