This past October, our school community united for an inspiring and action-packed Mental Health Awareness Month. Students, teachers, and parents participated in a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness, sparking open dialogue, and promoting emotional well-being throughout our school. More than just recognizing the importance of mental health, this month was about giving the MET community practical tools to care for their well-being, especially in today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world.

The Metropolitan School of Panama (MET) proudly celebrated the graduation of 57 exceptional students, marking the school's ninth graduation ceremony in its 13-year history. This year's graduates, many of whom have been part of the MET community for over a decade, exemplified dedication, resilience, and a strong sense of camaraderie.

As a grade 9 student and dedicated member of the MET Jaguars swim team, I am honored to present a reflection on our recent participation in the AASCA swim competition held in Guatemala. This extraordinary experience served as a testament to the dedication, resilience, and pride that define our athletics program. The journey to AASCA was marked by rigorous training, unexpected challenges, and the forging of lifelong bonds.

The Metropolitan School of Panama is pleased to announce the exceptional achievements of its graduating Class of 2024. These students have consistently demonstrated academic excellence, personal growth, and a dedication to positively influencing the world around them.

The Primary Year’s Programme (PYP) is the International Baccalaureate Organization's curriculum framework for learners from 3 to 12 years old. The framework is inquiry based and promotes the development of the whole child, empowering students to develop knowledge, understanding, skills and attributes through 6 transdisciplinary units of learning each year. The transdisciplinary units allow for meaningful connections between subjects and real-world contexts. The Exhibition is the culminating project that celebrates all that students have learned throughout their time in the PYP.

The Personal Project is a year-long independent study of a personally selected topic by our 10th graders that culminates in an essay and exhibition. Through this project, our students demonstrated their ability to be risk-takers and inquirers, not just inside, but also outside the classroom.

Founded in 2012, MET International Day is an annual event that celebrates the diversity of our school and is firmly established as one of our popular school traditions. Every year this fantastic event provides an opportunity for our entire community to connect, celebrate, and embrace the rich tapestry of cultures that make the MET so special.

This year’s celebration revolved around the exploration and advocacy of Children’s Rights, delving into the United Nations Convention of the Right of the Child (UNCRC). At the MET, we firmly believe in introducing children to these fundamental rights from an early age, embedding this crucial content and language in their learning journey.

November is a special month in Panama, known as the "Month of Fiestas Patrias" and the national holidays of Panama. Many activities occur throughout the country, in recognition of various momentous events that are part of its history.

October marks the beginning of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This year, we joined the global initiative, highlighting the theme "Data Privacy: Protect Yourself." In this article, we'll explore the significance of this annual event, the MET’s commitment to digital safety, and how we're empowering our Elementary and Secondary students to be responsible, mindful, and informed digital citizens.
