This past October, our school community united for an inspiring and action-packed Mental Health Awareness Month. Students, teachers, and parents participated in a variety of activities aimed at raising awareness, sparking open dialogue, and promoting emotional well-being throughout our school. More than just recognizing the importance of mental health, this month was about giving the MET community practical tools to care for their well-being, especially in today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world.

In 2019, the MET undertook an important educational initiative in partnership with Framingham State, to recruit Masters level candidates from the MET and the Panama Association of International Schools (PAIS) and create a first cohort here in Panama. Within a relatively short period of time this academic project came to fruition. The initial degree offered was a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a concentration in International Teaching.

The Panamanian Cultural Week is considered one of the most distinguished projects held annually at the Metropolitan School of Panama. Since opening in 2011, every November the MET family joins in the celebrations, dedicating a week to learning about the customs and traditions of Panama, where all members of our educational community have the opportunity to participate in interesting workshops and a folkloric gala, paying tribute to the host country.

After 9 years in the City of Knowledge, we spent the week saying goodbye. Trucks pulling in and out, and workers all through the building. With each day that passed, the building got a little bit emptier. We raised the flag on Monday. Then lowered it and packed it away safely for its trip to Green Valley. We heard some poignant memories and reflections from those members of our family who have been here since Day One in August 2011.
