November is a special month in Panama, known as the "Month of Fiestas Patrias" and the national holidays of Panama. Many activities occur throughout the country, in recognition of various momentous events that are part of its history.

October marks the beginning of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This year, we joined the global initiative, highlighting the theme "Data Privacy: Protect Yourself." In this article, we'll explore the significance of this annual event, the MET’s commitment to digital safety, and how we're empowering our Elementary and Secondary students to be responsible, mindful, and informed digital citizens.

On September 27, 2023, the Metropolitan School of Panama hosted a workshop on digital tools for teaching as part of the Leadership Program for School Principals in the Educational Region of San Miguelito. The workshop was attended by a total of 45 participants, including school principals and lead teachers from local school in San Miguelito.

For our school, the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme marked a milestone in the school year 2020-2021, enabling our Performing Arts teachers to undergo comprehensive training and professional development in the Juilliard Approach to K-12 Classroom Instruction.

In the ever-evolving landscape of education, attending conferences can be a transformative experience. Such was the case for our world-class teachers Katherine, Erika, Gabriela and Davina at the IB Global Conference 2023 held in Toronto, Canada.

Students studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at the Metropolitan School of Panama have once again performed significantly above the global average.

The Metropolitan School of Panama was proud to graduate another 42 students, some of whom have spent more than 11 years of their education at the MET. The Class of 2023, the MET’s 8th graduation ceremony in the 12-year history of the school, was celebrated in June 2023.

As an educational institution committed to promoting academic excellence in Panamanian education, we organized METWork training seminar on April 22. 

On March 23 and March 24, MET MUN hosted its annual conference: Limited time to make a change, before damages become irreversible.   

Andrea Medina, a homeroom teacher from Third Grade, participated with 25 other Nord Anglia educators in a one-of-a-kind learning experience at Apple Learning Academy last March.  

At the Metropolitan School of Panama, we believe in the power of making a positive impact on both our community and the environment. To this end, we are proud to introduce the "Food Waste Reduction and Management Program."

Meet Glarencia, our Operations Manager who, like many, once believed that running wasn't suitable for her. Little did she know that it was just the beginning of an incredible journey that would lead her to tackle the most challenging race of his life.

At the MET, we believe that cultural diversity is a treasure to be celebrated and embraced. That's why every year, we eagerly anticipate the "Mes de la Patria" or Panamanian Cultural Week, a unique event that sets us apart as a school community.

MET students achieve more than they may have thought possible. We believe there is no limit to what students can achieve socially, personally and academically. This year, our students’ academic results reflect our shared commitment to excellence.

In 2019, the MET undertook an important educational initiative in partnership with Framingham State, to recruit Masters level candidates from the MET and the Panama Association of International Schools (PAIS) and create a first cohort here in Panama. Within a relatively short period of time this academic project came to fruition. The initial degree offered was a Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a concentration in International Teaching.

In 2019, the MET undertook an important educational initiative in partnership with Framingham State, to recruit Masters level candidates from the MET and the Panama Association of International Schools (PAIS) and create a first cohort here in Panama. After 9 years in the City of Knowledge, we spent the week saying goodbye. Trucks pulling in and out, and workers all through the building. With each day that passed, the building got a little bit emptier. We raised the flag on Monday. Then lowered it and packed it away safely for its trip to Green Valley. We heard some poignant memories and reflections from those members of our family who have been here since Day One in August 2011.

Although this year's event looked different to previous years, here at the MET we were determined to ensure that the graduation ceremony was a special moment for our Class of 2020 graduates.
