Ms Gulnur was born in Tashkent and raised in Almaty, Kazakhstan where her family originate from. She spent her childhood with her maternal grandmother and uncles. As she has always been joyful and happy she was the youngest and favourite niece.

At BST our current families are our finest advocates and we want to reward you for your loyalty and kind words about us to your families and friends. Hence, we are relaunching our Refer a Family programme. It is a way for us to say thank you for your trust and confidence. For each new student you refer who enrolls at BST, we will discount your tuition fees by UZS 2.000.000. The tuition reductions are per student (not per family) and there is no limit to the number of students referred. You can get more information on this initiative by contacting us.

News | Highlights Navruz at BST 02-16
BST staff and students will be celebrating, and learning about, Nowruz in the week beginning 14th March. Primary students will take part in daily craft and discovery activities. Secondary students will do this in Art, PE and Russian lessons. On Friday18th March all students and staff are encouraged to get into the spirit of Nowruz by wearing local dress. There will be special Nowruz themed assemblies on that day, and students will be able to sample the delicious Sumalak cooked on site.

Last week the BST PE department hosted two days of Table Tennis tournaments for Key Stage 3-5 players. Table tennis has been a popular activity during breaks and lunch times and students were keen to test themselves in a more formal manner.

This week during Maths Week in the Primary School, we have been using the book 365 Penguins by Jean-Luc Fromental as our theme. The teachers have planned and delivered different mathematical activities for the children to work on, allowing them to talk about the maths they are learning with their peers. We ended the week with a 'Happy Feet' march dressed as penguins.

Mr Simon Porter delivered a virtual session on the "Growth-Mindset" on Friday 21st January, based on the work of Professor Carol Dweck of Stanford University. He also gave ideas and tactics on how to instill the Growth Mindset in your children. The session was followed by an introduction to the new PTFA (Parent Teacher Friends Association) committee.

Our BST secondary school teachers are currently engaged in a Multilingual Learning Programme which is being delivered by Ms Deborah and Ms Laman in conjunction with Nord Anglia University. This programme draws on research evidence on the most effective strategies for teaching and learning in a multilingual environment. Our main focus is to raise awareness of our students’ linguistic needs and to support the development of a range of strategies for developing language through the curriculum.

News | Highlights COBIS Debate Best Speakers 12-15
Last weekend, twelve of our wonderful Year 12 and 13 students took part in The COBIS Virtual Debate, competing against other British international schools from across the globe. Our BST students did us proud and impressed the judges with their intelligence, eloquence and skilful use of logic. Abdalaziz Saleh Al Hadad, Moritz Kramer and Advait Anand Motgi all won best speaker in their debates.

Blog | Highlights Unsung Hero – Ms Luciana Piddock
Ms Luciana was born in the city of Londrina, in Brazil (famous for its coffee) and is the youngest of 4 siblings. As a child Ms Luciana wanted to become a Policewoman and loved cats. So much so that by the age of 13 she had 13 cats but unfortunately no pets now as she travels frequently with her family and that would be unfair on any pets.

On Saturday 27th November, BST and Sky Chess hosted our second Charity Chess Championship. The Swiss style tournament was open to all young people from ages 8 – 18, with local and international schools each bringing their two best players. We hosted 70 top players from across Tashkent to play 9 rounds over the day.

News | Highlights Swim Gala 11-25
The BST Sea Lions came together for our first Gala of the academic year. New faces joined the swimmers from last year as 76 schools throughout the Nord Anglia family competed on a global scale in a virtual gala. Swimmers from ages 8 - 17 met at the pool, cheered on by classmates, staff and family as they set their best times over 25m. Those that posted the best time in their age category also raced in the 4x25m relay. New school records have been set and lots of new personal bests posted. A big thank you to the staff that helped on the day and to the parents that came to support the swimmers!
