We are excited to welcome Bevan Graham as the new Principal of The British School of Beijing (BSB). Bevan steps into this role on the 1st of August honouring the outstanding leadership and the legacy left by Jayne Needham, whose dedication and vision have shaped the school into the vibrant, high achieving community it is today.
A New Chapter Begins

Bevan is a passionate IB practitioner with a wealth of experience in the international education sector, including formal academic research into the contextual complexities of enacting IB programmes in China. His insights and expertise will be invaluable as BSB continues to grow as a centre of excellence in international education.

Bevan is deeply committed to whole school alignment, envisioning BSB as a unified journey that begins with our youngest learners and culminates in the IB Diploma. Many of our top performing students have been with us from the very start, a testament to the strength and continuity of our educational offering.
Inclusivity and curriculum access are central to Bevan’s vision. As an international school, BSB is proud of its exceptional EAL provision, ensuring every student can thrive regardless of their language background.

Bevan also believes that schooling is more than academics. He is passionate about providing students with a rich array of enrichment opportunities, particularly in sport and the performing arts. BSB’s vibrant co-curricular programme will undoubtably continue to flourish under his leadership, offering students diverse pathways to explore their talents and interests.
At the heart of Bevan’s leadership is a commitment to empowering changemakers. He is dedicated to expanding service learning opportunities, building on legacy programmes such as Happy School and Roundabout, as well as initiatives like the Duke of Edinburgh Award and IB Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS).
Equally important to Bevan is engaging all stakeholders. He is passionate about taking parents on the journey, working closely with them every step of the way and actively seeking feedback, both in celebration of what we do well and in recognition of areas where we can grow.
With Bevan Graham at the helm, BSB enters an exciting new chapter, one grounded in excellence, enriched by collaboration and driven by a shared commitment to shaping a better future for every student.
