In Year 5 and 6 Enrichment, the students have been focusing on volcanoes for the past 2 weeks. Science can be so much fun!

Our Year 1 students had an amazing school trip to the World Park, just in time for our International Week! It was a fantastic opportunity for our young explorers to broaden their horizons, foster global awareness, and celebrate diversity.

Reading for pleasure is a vital skill that lays the foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth, particularly in Key Stage One. During this developmental stage, children are introduced to the joys of reading, and fostering a love for books can significantly enhance their literacy skills and imagination.

The term ‘interactive learning’ is becoming more common in the educational world and there are many reasons why – for one, interactive learning is learning that gives students the experience to learn with all their senses as it is hands-on learning. Not only does it instruct them on a theoretical level, but also to practise the knowledge they are absorbing.

Key Stage 2 students have been tirelessly honing their football skills over the past five weeks. With each lesson dedicated to perfecting dribbling, passing, defending, shooting, and attacking, they prepared for our highly anticipated house competition — where only one team could emerge victorious!

This week in Year 2, the children channeled their inner Jackson Pollock and got creative with some amazing splat artwork!

This week in Nursery the children have been exploring colours in different ways and mixing them much like in the stories ‘Mix it up’, ‘The Colour Monster’ and ‘White Rabbits Colour Book’.

In Chinese classes the students enjoyed a fabulous time learning about and celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China’s most important festivals!

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) lessons in Year 2 play a vital role in helping children develop essential life skills that support their overall growth. These lessons create a safe space where students can explore their emotions, build positive relationships, and learn the importance of health and well-being.

Our Year 5 and Year 6 students have been working hard in the past couple of lessons on the Ukulele unit. This term they will learn tuning, strumming/rhythm, accompaniment, melody, singing, hand coordination, sight-reading, and many other skills while learning the ukulele.

During the past two weeks, we have based our learning around on the story ‘Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes’.

Our Year 3 Puffins class had an exciting visit to the school Library this week!

Maths can often seem abstract and intimidating to young learners, but using Maths manipulatives can make the subject more tangible and engaging, especially for Year 2 students.

At BSB, Sanlitun we have a number of native German speaking students studying with us. The students have weekly German classes which allows them to continue to study German and advance their language skills, as well as being fully immersed in an English-speaking environment – giving our students the opportunity to leave BSB, Sanlitun bilingual!

The support teams were busy working throughout the summer to provide administrative support to our families and to ensure that the school is ready for the new academic year.

Our Student Council had their final meeting of the year this week, sharing highlights of all of the creative projects they have cooperated on in the last three terms.

Parents and students from Year 3 got a thrilling experience last week, participating in a Tornado Scavenger Hunt and competing against each other in a friendly Kahoot match.

As a nice and practical way to wrap up our Year 3 Maths unit on statistics, the classes designed their own surveys to collect data and represented this data in different ways.
