This week, we celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week 2025 (3rd to 9th February), and it was a wonderful opportunity for our Year 2 children to focus on their emotional well-being. This year’s theme, “Your Voice Matters”, encouraged children to express themselves, share their feelings, and understand that their thoughts and emotions are important.

Here, at BSB Sanlitun, we were pleased to host two weeks of visits of two Juilliard specialists from New York, across 3 full working days. Our Primary students got to experience a variety of lessons and teaching styles as Nick Mahmat and Brian Drye stepped into our classrooms and led music and drama activities.

We were transported away to a magical land of fairy tales by our Year 2 students, with each class performing a different fairy tale, before joining on stage for a whole year song! Well done to all the students and staff involved, such a production requires a lot of hard work, time and commitment. We all thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

What a wonderful day we had hosting our annual Chinese New Year Temple Fair on campus on Sunday. This great community event included games, a Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, a face changing performance, traditional crafts, a bouncy castle, food vendors and gift stalls.Thanks to everyone who made the event possible and magical!

This week in Year 1's topic lessons, the children explored the magical beauty of the Northern Lights. The sessions focused on developing their creativity and honing their art skills through the use of different chalk techniques.

Before the holiday break, we had the privilege of hosting a memorable awards ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students in sporty After-School Activities (ASAs). This special event allowed us to recognise the dedication, effort, and talent demonstrated by our students throughout the term.

Today, our students had the wonderful opportunity to take part in two live broadcasts with  CNN and on the important topic of Climate Change.

So much time and effort have been put into the much anticipated show of the year - the Year 5 Production of ‘Christmas with the Aliens’.

Our amazing Parents' Association has done it again!! Another event taken from idea to fruition, allowing for every child at BSB Sanlitun to experience a fantastic 'Elfquest' performance and receive a festive gift.

Well done to all our Nursery students for entertaining us brilliantly at the end of Term 1.

Friends and families are invited to join us for a fantastic day, allowing everyone to get into the festive spirit at our 'Christmas Cracker' event on Sunday 1st December 2024, 10am to 2pm @ BSB Sanlitun (Primary Campus - 5 Xiliujie, Chaoyang District).

Last Monday, the Year 6 students participated in the first live, virtual visit by our dance specialist, Hilary Easton from New York.  She taught us how to use basic dance steps to develop inventive rhythms and tones.

This week is Anti-Bullying Week at BSB Sanlitun. As part of the week our students undertook a number of activities in class, one of the events this week is Odd Socks Day! We had lots of fun on this special day and we loved seeing everyone’s different socks - lots of colour and fun designs. Most importantly, we celebrated each other’s uniqueness!

This week, Year 4 students at our school took to the stage to present their fantastic production, Pirates vs Mermaids. The children did an amazing job in bringing this lively show to life, filling the hall with adventure, song, and a dash of humour!

We were delighted to host a virtual workshop at school recently. The sessions was live streamed from New York and was in collaboration with Juilliard (led by Hillary Easton - Dance Specialist) and our very own Head of Performing Arts, Ms. Borisavljevic.

Nursery has been exploring the natural world of autumn and all its seasonal changes. We used a range of materials to develop our maths skills in ABAB patterns. The children are learning that patterns are a series of repeating objects such as shapes, colours, lines, etc. We used natural materials to complete and make new patterns.

Inspired by Jack and the Flum Flum Tree, our Year 1 children created their own colourful patchwork sacks!

Our Leadership Lunches are arranged for our Year 5 and 6 students in their Upper Primary Hub. Guests join our students to talk about their experience in their field of expertise and to answer any questions our students may have. The lunches are always inspiring and generate lots of thoughtful questions and insights from our students.

In Reception, we have been exploring familiar 2D and 3D shapes. The pupils have shown great enthusiasm in discovering and discussing the properties of these shapes, such as their sides and corners, similarities and differences. Through engaging activities, they have been encouraged to use shape language, enabling them to articulate their thoughts and observations while they play.

In Year 2, we have embarked on an exciting journey into the world of shapes, and we’d like to take this opportunity to share why this is such an important part of your child’s learning!
