This week, the children in Year 1 started a new focus story: The Bog Baby.

This term we followed the Leopards class to get a glimpse of what a week look like in the life of our Year 1 children here at BSB Sanlitun.

We began our English unit by reading an old tale with a modern twist ‘The Three Little Pugs and the Big Bad Cat’. We discussed the materials the Pugs used to make their houses and why.

The past few weeks have been very exciting for Year 1!

Year 1 have enjoyed learning more about toys in school.

What a wonderful week in Year 1! We have been learning all about polar bears and how to save their homes.

Through cross-curricular learning, Year 1 have continued to improve their knowledge of weather and the seasons.

This week in Year 1, children have been learning about positional and directional vocabulary as part of their Maths lessons.

As our topic ‘Africa’ comes to an end, we wanted to celebrate everything we’ve learnt by having a special day dedicated to just African activities.

The Year 1 children have been practicing very hard for their production ‘There’s A Sunflower In My Supper’ and boy did it pay off!

During our topic ‘The reasons the seasons are so’ Year 1 have been observing the changes across the four seasons.

The Year One children have enjoyed looking at the story ‘The Smartest Giant in Town'.

It was lovely to see the children so eager and happy to be back at school on Monday. KS1 began the week with a whole school assembly launch of our new topic Curious Cities. This inspired the children when they were back in class, to ask some big questions about their local environment.
