The Virtual Games concluded this weekend with nail-biting FIFA 20, Madden 20, and Rocket League finals as well as an exciting Celebrity Rocket League tournament! Students had a wonderful time, made new friends, and exhibited great digital citizenship and sportsmanship values throughout the entire tournament!

Last year, the Student Sustainability Team made several incredibly successful changes to the school, including implementing composting, clothes swaps, and giving multiple presentations on environmentalism. In order to continue this positive action, while also following coronavirus guidelines, BISC will be trialing Meatless Mondays for the month of January. Every Monday the school lunch option will be meatless, however, meals the rest of the week will be served as usual.

Early this year, learning all over the world took an unexpected turn as students and teachers had to quickly shift to virtual learning. At The Village School, many students began to ideate on how to use their time and talents to make an impact. Seeing virtual learning as an opportunity rather than a drawback, the following students came up with incredible ideas, leveraging the virtual space for continued learning over the summer.

Dana is a Viking with a very diverse set of interests. She is a two-sport varsity athlete, has a passion for art and is a bright IB Diploma candidate, planning to pursue Neuroscience in the future. Most rewarding of all her pursuits though is a non-profit she started called Crochet Children’s Fund. Through her non-profit, Dana sells stuffed animals she crochets and donates the proceeds to local children’s hospitals.

Many different Village Vikings have gotten to enjoy his delicious creations and he’s always glad for the chance to share. We got to connect with this ambitious and eloquent baker, and hear all about his unique gift turned small business.

A senior at The Village School, Anastacia Y. already has a fully-functioning business to her name. She is the founder and owner of Elcove, an environmentally conscious company that provides a variety of cleaning product capsules and reusable bottles. Elcove’s toxin-free products aim to replace the single-use plastic bottles often found in grocery store cleaning aisles.
