IB Chemistry Lab

Our Year 12 students have completed their first IB chemistry lab of the year! 

For their first class they did a design lab to investigate the acid-base character of a selection of metals in order to establish patterns (periodicity) in their behaviour. The students were very surprised when potassium sparked, popped and caught on fire! They were also surprised that managing their time and managing the teamwork was harder than they had realised. 

As the year progresses, they will have more design challenges before the students start their IAs in order to practise these skills.

We look forward to seeing how Year 12 progresses throughout the school year!
