Year 6 student Michael Karezin swam his way to a top 10 finish at a national swimming competition this month in Indianapolis, competing with his swim team from Boston's Charles River Aquatics.
Michael competed for 4 days at the OLY Winter Invitational at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis with his swim team, racing in several different strokes and events.
Swimming in the competition pool itself, Michael said, was an adventure. The pool is well known for hosting numerous Olympic trials, and was so large it had to be divided up to accommodate the competition's young swimmers.
But the biggest highlight was his- and his team's- performance at the competition. He earned 10th place in the 50-meter backstroke, and his team placed 7th overall.
"Only the best teams in the country are invited," Michael said. "We had never been invited before, so I was a little nervous."
Congratulations to Michael for his strong performance!
