On the evening of Thursday 27 October, 2016, musicians from BVIS Primary and BIS Primary (Tu Xuong Campus and An Phu Campus) came together for the annual Primary Young Musician of the Year Competition.

As we begin the second half of term, so the Year 6 pupils embark upon their second IPC unit, ‘Fairgrounds’. This unit culminates with them presenting rides that they have made at an exhibition attended by other pupils, teachers and parents.

Anne, on behalf of the parent group, updates us on this week’s events within the Parent Group.

Determined to build on Team Helios' success, Steve, Rui, Ben and Hae On, better known as Doppler Racing, are travelling to Texas to compete in the 2016 F1 in Schools World Finals.

Thursday 6th October saw BIS HCMC host it’s Battle of the Bands Competition and a new band be crowned BOTB16 Champions!

Our new Music Intern has come directly from University to join us here at the An Phu Primary Campus. Annabelle has settled in extremely well and we are very lucky to have such a talented musician to join Ms Beth and Ms Fran. Ms Annabelle shared with us, how she is settling into life in Vietnam.

Our long term community partner, Thien Phuoc Disabled Home, received therapy equipment this week through money from kind donations given at all three campuses.

A wonderful week of community activities to reflect upon, and a look ahead to this Sunday's Family Picnic! See you on Sunday from 9.30am for a chance to bring our school community together, make new friends and have a fun filled family morning.

Overall, we played a hard-working, thunderous game and won 25-24. It was a very close game leading us to wonder when we face them again will the result be the same?

I would like to thank all of the BIS Barracuda swimmers that competed in the first SSIS Invitational relays meet on Saturday. We had a great turn out and some really good swims.

As this week has been witness to a number of exciting activities revolving around Book Week, I thought it would be appropriate to write about what are my favourite books and why I go back to them time and time again.

During our book celebration week there have been a variety of activities and events to get us all very excited about books! One event which has not only encouraged reading for pleasure but has also benefitted our wider community is the TX book swap.

On Saturday the 24th of September, 12 BIS Students participated in the Saigon Senior Logic Competition held at ISHCMC, where their logic and wits were tested to their limits.

Our third ‘new’ teacher is new to BIS but not to Vietnam. Already we have discovered that Natasha, originally from the UK is pretty good at speaking Vietnamese and is always looking for opportunities to practice much to our local staff’s delight.

On Saturday 10th September, BIS proudly hosted the 6th Annual ABRSM High Scorers’ Concert in the auditorium. This concert serves as a showcase for the top performing students from the June practical instrumental exam session.

Moving to Year 2 we meet Robert Sesemann who has joined us from the UK this year. Rob has settled in very well and we caught up with him to hear about his first impressions of Vietnam and BIS.
