Community is at the heart of everything we do at BIS HCMC. Last weekend was a perfect example of how our community at the Tu Xuong campus regularly meets to enjoy, celebrate and create magical memories together.

The students in Community Lego Club have been having a blast building and playing with our partners from Binh An School.

With nearly 400 primary school students competing, the SISAC Track and Field championships are one of the biggest events in the city’s calendar. It is also one of the sports with an under 9 division giving our Year 3 and 4 students a chance to sample competitive sport with other schools in the city.

29 girls and boys across Mile Posts 2 & 3 represented the school in this epic event of child versus nature!

World Book Day is an annual celebration of the enjoyment books can give us, and this week is its 20th anniversary! There will be events going on at schools across the world, including author readings, book quizzes, dressing up as characters and more.

Two weeks ago, Marina from EAST (Endangered Animal Species Trust) came and told us how her charity helped these animals. She inspired us and now we are trying to spread out the facts.

This week the EYFS children were invited to join a Superhero Boot Camp at BVIS in District 7. The children and their parents prepared for this exciting new event by choosing a suitable super hero costume and it was lovely to see so many homemade accessories. The children enjoyed training as Superhero’s and making new friends. We all hope to go back and visit the children at BVIS again soon.

Our recent project in Year 3 was to design and create a wrapper for our very own chocolate bars.

This week Mr Deyes reflects on a busy few weeks including the recruitment process and an awards ceremony in London.

Year 2 enjoyed a very exciting Entry Point to their new IPC unit ‘The Circus is Coming’. Along with our friends at TX, we were wowed and amazed by the strength and agility of the performers who came from all over the world.

In IPC, we have been learning about the circus. We have researched the history of the circus, written circus poems and stories, learnt about colours and the emotions they evoke, constructed a big top and used Lego to build a circus plan.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, thousands of runners descended upon District 7 where HCMC – The City Marathon was about to begin.

Language is a fascinating subject and, especially here at BIS HCMC, it is so interesting to hear how, once our students step outside the school gates they dip in and out of several languages, sometimes simultaneously and always without noticing what they are doing.

Our Music Performance Mentoring Programme (MPMP) aims to create difference. The brainchild of one our Year 12 students, the programme has resumed this term by popular demand.

Some of our youngest children have gained a wonderful flavour of International Week.

Today I would like to share with you a short narrative about an issue that has nothing to do with education, but more to do with a very personal issue that all of us run through with varying degrees of happiness and joy at least once a year.

We are pleased to offer, once again this year, an opportunity to order books from Baker’s Book Club in the UK.

Last term, two teams of students made weekly visits to the local Huynh Van Ngoi school (HVN) to help the Vietnamese children stage a production.
