The second annual Nord Anglia South East Asia Games were held at St Andrews school in Bangkok last weekend. The tournament gives students from Years 5 and 6 the opportunity to compete in Basketball and Teeball competitions against our fellow Nord Anglia schools.

In order to pass the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students must fulfil the requirements of the non-academic component known as CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service). Here we talk to Zhen Yi Chew about his chosen IB CAS Project: Operation Smile.

Last week a team comprised of Year 6 students entered the FOBISIA Maths Online Competition and competed against 36 other international schools in South East Asia.

British International School HCMC are proud to announce that our four Year 9 students who entered into the International FOBISIA Design and Technology Online Competition were awarded second place!

This year saw the British International School, Phuket host their 16th year of the Soccer 7’s Tournament. The biggest one to date, welcomed 1650 competitors playing for 165 teams from 39 international schools, based in 10 different countries – making this tournament a truly remarkable meeting place for Asia's top young footballers, and the international school community.

On 25th November, 12 BIS HCMC students embarked on their Community trip to Ky Quang 2 Pagoda Orphanage in the outskirts of Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City.

This year the FOBISIA Games took place in Phuket, Thailand and covered a range of sports including Football, Basketball, Swimming and Athletics. Each and every one of our students used their skills of perseverance, determination and ambition to bring home an unbelievable total of 5 trophies, 47 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 33 bronze medals as well as a host of memories and experiences that will last a lifetime. Next week, we are encouraging all students to break with bad habits and ensure they eat a healthy breakfast every morning. A ‘5-day breakfast-selfie challenge’ is upon us, with prizes to be won. Perhaps the biggest prize of all being a week of energy-fueled learning.

The 20th annual SEOMUN (Seoul Model United Nations) conference took place between the 9th and the 12th of November 2017. Twenty seven students from BIS HCMC travelled to Seoul for 3 days of competitive debate and discussion on some of the world’s most pressing issues ranging from global warming to religious extremism.

The SISAC U11 Basketball season drew to a close this week, with both boys and girls taking on the rest of the city.

The aim of EAL is to build English confidence, fluency and accuracy so that our students can fully and independently access their learning, both in and out of the classroom.

We’ve been learning phonics sounds for about 6 weeks now in F3, in which we have covered many sounds in the alphabet. We’re using a programme called Read Write Inc. and through a variety of activities and games to make it as active, hands on and meaningful as possible for our little learners we are already seeing great progress and enthusiasm.
