The British International School Ho Chi Minh City (BIS HCMC) has once again secured the highest possible accolade — Outstanding in Every Category — following its November 2025 British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection, conducted by Penta International on behalf of the UK Government. This marks over 10 years of being rated an Outstanding international school.

Students across all three BIS campuses recently enjoyed an unforgettable celebration of live music, as the Desford Colliery Brass Band, UK National Champions 2025, visited the school as part of a week-long programme of performances and workshops.

As an international school deeply rooted in Vietnam, Tết holds a special place in life at BIS HCMC. As our community celebrated the transition from the Year of the Snake to the Year of the Horse, students across our entire school deepened their understanding of Vietnamese culture, language, and tradition through meaningful learning experiences.

From his first performances on the BIS HCMC stage to leading roles on some of Australia’s exciting theatres and screens, BIS alumnus JK Kazzi has carved an extraordinary path in the world of acting. Shaped by IGCSE Drama, IBDP Theatre, a vibrant Performing Arts programme, and the encouragement of inspirational teachers, JK has gone on to train at NIDA, appear on national television, and earn glowing 5‑star reviews for his powerful and compelling stage performances. His journey reflects the confidence, creativity and courage nurtured during his years at BIS HCMC.

BIS HCMC warmly welcomed back 30 alumni from universities across the globe for a special event organised by our College and University Guidance Counsellor Team.  The day was led by four of our CUG Student Ambassadors, who helped connect current sixth form students with invaluable insights from life beyond BIS. The event was a resounding success, bringing together past and present students in a celebration of community, learning, and shared experience.

Congratulations to Devon in Year 12, who has been awarded a Social Impact Grant from Nord Anglia Education in collaboration with students from the British Vietnamese International School (BVIS HCMC) and British Vietnamese International School Hanoi (BVIS Hanoi) to support Lovientus –Lovien Lotus, a student-led initiative to design and produce prosthetic legs for people in Vietnam living with disabilities and facing financial hardship. It's a shining example of how student collaboration across Nord Anglia schools can create meaningful impact.

Imagine stepping into the halls of MIT, where ideas that change the world are born. Through our Nord Anglia Education collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, BIS HCMC students experienced exactly that—a week of discovery and creativity that inspires the next generation of innovators.

Every year, our Tết Gift Box Collection unites students, parents, and staff in a tradition of giving, supporting local organisations that make a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable children, families, and elderly residents across Ho Chi Minh City. By donating simple yet essential items, stationery, hygiene products, and basic food supplies, our community can help brighten the holiday season for hundreds of individuals served by our community partners. Together, we can make Tết a time of joy, dignity, and opportunity for everyone.

Our students have once again achieved outstanding results in the outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards. In the June 2025 examination series 12 students earned 15 awards, including 7 Top in the World and 6 Top in Vietnam awards. One student also achieved Best across 8 Subjects - First place in Vietnam, an exceptional accomplishment that reflects remarkable academic breadth. Another student demonstrated an incredible accomplishment in a less studied subject, receiving a High Achievement award.

Our incredible U15 athletes represented BIS HCMC at the FOBISIA Games in Thailand—a three-day celebration of sport, teamwork, and determination. Competing against top schools from across Asia, our students showed true BIS spirit in athletics, basketball, football, and swimming. What makes FOBISIA special? It’s not just one sport—it’s a test of versatility, resilience, and passion. From sprinting on the track to diving into the pool, from fast-paced basketball courts to strategic football matches, our athletes gave it their all!

For more than ten years, BIS HCMC has shared a close partnership with Thien Phuoc Foster Home, a residential centre that provides healthcare, rehabilitation and education for children with Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome.

From fearless first-timers to seasoned champions, our Barracudas didn’t just swim—they soared! Every race was a testament to their grit, passion, and unstoppable team spirit.

Team Mercury VN, a group of six Year 13 students from BIS HCMC, proudly represented Vietnam at the 2025 Aramco STEM Racing World Finals in Singapore, winning the prestigious Autodesk Design and Make Award among 83 teams from 34 countries.

Our Class of 2025 has set a new benchmark for university destinations at BIS HCMC with an unprecedented growth in the number of BIS HCMC students securing places at the world’s top universities. Well over 50% of our students are joining universities ranked in the QS 100 world rankings. An incredible 34 students, that’s 32%, and almost one in three of our graduating cohort, are attending a QS Top 30 university worldwide. This is a huge leap from last year’s still very impressive 17%.

If you’ve seen one of our orchestras in full force, heard our choirs sing in harmony, or watched one of our musical or dramatical productions fueled by passion, creativity, quick wit and powerful performances, you’ll understand why Performing Arts at BIS HCMC is something special. These experiences rival professional productions on the global stage.

Starting school is a significant moment in a young child’s life — and for our pre-nursery learners in Foundation Stage 1 (F1), it marks the beginning of their educational journey at BIS HCMC. We understand that this transition can be both exciting and emotional for children and their families. That’s why we place great emphasis on a carefully designed settling-in period, tailored to the needs of each individual child. Our settling in period allows for children to start at any time during the year, allowing children to feel safe, secure, comfortable and ready to learn, regardless of when they join us during the year.

In their first full week as IBDP students, our new Year 12s gathered in the Founders’ Auditorium earlier this week for one of the most anticipated moments of their school journey so far: opening their long-awaited IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) results. As always, the air was initially full of nerves, hesitation and excitement — and then emotion, joy and pride — as all students celebrated two years of success, hard work and commitment.

At the British International School HCMC, our Parent Teacher Group (PTG) is more than just supportive parents, they’re the heart of our community. Engaged, enthusiastic, and always ready to help, their impact stretches far beyond the school walls, building strong connections between students, staff and parents.

Year 9 is more than the final chapter of Key Stage 3 (KS3) of the English National Curriculum; it’s a pivotal year of transformation. It’s the point where students begin to personalise their learning to a much greater extent, preparing to enter the academic rigour of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme.
