This week, we have made significant strides in the journey to returning to school. In all we do, be it the vaccination process, virtual learning or the transition back to school - now and in the months ahead - we, the BIS HCMC community approach what we do with care and in a spirit of positive partnership.

A wonderful week where we had the opportunity to come together, safely, to celebrate Teachers Day followed by a brilliant Enrichment Day on Wednesday and rounded off with a spectacular Sing along this afternoon.

This week’s weekly update is a joint Early Years and Infant and Junior Campus update from Mr Ian Battersby and Ms Dee Grimshaw, Headteachers of the Early Years and Infant Campus and Junior Campus respectively. It highlights some of the events that have taken place this week.

Today is World Children’s Day, where around the globe, we advocate, promote and celebrate children’s rights, translating dialogue into actions that will build a better world for children...

This week, we held our Annual Remembrance events where we, as a school community, pause, reflect and remember those who have fought in conflicts around the world - who sacrificed themselves to achieve and protect peace...

Our students continue to impress us with their wonderful attitude and engagement with learning.

This week, I feel a profound sense of gratitude towards our host country. Witnessing the spirit, efficiency and effort of all involved in the vaccination programme over the last week, we can feel fortunate that, as guests in Vietnam, our children are able to receive the vaccination in support of their health and wellbeing.

At BIS HCMC, our Virtual School Experience (VSE) provision draws upon the expertise, resourcefulness and creativity of our teaching heroes to deliver an engaging online learning experience across the Early Years and Foundation Stage (EYFS). For many families, the first Nord Anglia school their child joins is only the beginning of their international education journey. In this blog we are interviewing Anne, a parent within the Nord Anglia community, who shares the experience of her family and their relocations around the world.

As a Nord Anglia Education School, BIS HCMC is connected with our sister schools all over the world through our Global Campus Platform. On Friday 8th October we took on one of the Global Campus Challenges as a school, with students from Early Years through to Year 7 engaging in the Rube Goldberg Challenge!

In assembly today, I mentioned the many and varied events that have taken place over the last 10 weeks.

I am sure we can all agree this has been a half term like no other. As we come through such a challenging time together we can feel proud that our students, with the support of their parents and teachers have managed despite the difficulties of lockdown and virtual school - to keep going, and to keep learning, together.

What connects each of the varied activities this week is the importance of open minded thinking and the strength of different perspectives to problem solving. This week has been a celebration of our neuro-diversity and the richness of different perspectives and their importance in navigating our challenges and achieving progress.

With the lifting of restrictions here in HCMC, I have spent the week working at the Junior Campus.

It’s been a busy week at the Junior Campus for both parents and students with a number of parent presentations taking place.

As we arrive at this weekend, I know we are all heartened to finally reach the end of this period of lockdown.

This week we present a joint Weekly Update from both campuses, an opportunity for you to see what is happening across primary and what children of all ages have been up to over the last few weeks.

Music has always played a huge part in our wellbeing. The joy of listening to music, of playing music or joining together with others in a collective musical experience spans all cultures, ages and societies. The part that music plays in our personal and collective wellbeing has been shown to be especially significant during this period of lockdown.

The weeks are flying by and this week with the addition of our VCCAs, it has been an action packed week during our Virtual Learning.
