As we reach the end of Term 2 , I feel so proud and grateful – proud to be part of such an amazing school community and grateful to all the people- parents, students, teachers and support staff who came together to make some fantastic BIS memories yesterday on International Day 2022.

As Term 2 draws to a close, we can look back with a great deal of pride in what our school community has achieved.

After two long years of the pandemic, there are signs that we are returning to a state where we can re-engage with the activities that we previously took for granted; international travel, going to work or school if you are healthy (not having to isolate because you are a close contact of someone who is not well), celebrating family events together, etc. We are hopeful that school events will also be able to resume.

Sharing learning experiences is at the core of a learning community such as BIS Ho CHi Minh City.

Courage, creativity and compassion are the attributes we need from our leaders of today and in the future that our young people will inhabit.

Dear Parents, This week was one of sound and colour, buzz and excitement, as we relaunched our in-person CCA programme on Monday, held our World Book Day celebrations on Thursday and ended today with the magnificent special Acoustic Lounge to mark the culmination of Black History Month.

Dear Parents, This week I have had the pleasure of speaking to every student in Years 7-12. We reflected on how special it is to come to school each day and how perhaps we all took for granted the privilege of being able to learn together in classrooms, labs and workshops - sports fields, drama and music rooms and enjoy each other ’s company at break and lunch. We focussed on some key ways to thrive in the weeks and months ahead to squeeze every drop of opportunity out of school life whilst showing respect and care for all in our community, in how we approach our learning, our use of campus spaces and in our relationships with others.

Education in its essence is about change, it is a slow process - evolution not revolution. But, every now and then it creates moments that serve as mileposts, as markers on our journey. This week, we had the opportunity for two such mileposts for our Year 7 students and our Year 12 students.

Here at BIS HCMC we take great joy in our Nord Anglia collaborations with pioneering institutions such as MIT, Juilliard and of course the humanitarian aid organisation, UNICEF. With December 2021 marking the 75th anniversary of UNICEF, our Year 12 student Nini, was selected to interview former UNICEF UK President and UNICEF Ambassador, Lord David Puttnam. As we approach the Tet Holiday, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a safe and peaceful holiday. Mr Anthony’s video message yesterday reflected on the past two years, but more importantly stressed moving forward and all of the staff at the Early Years and Infant and Junior Campuses are very excited at the thought of welcoming all of our amazing families back to campus on Monday 14th February.

Preparations continue for the return of the children to the Early Years and Infant Campus after the Tet holiday.

Dear Parents, As we approach the Lunar New Year, we bid farewell to the Year of the Buffalo, a symbol of persistence and determination. I am sure we can all agree that this has certainly been an apt representation of the qualities needed to navigate the past year. We now look forward to celebrating Tet with our families and welcoming in the Year of the Tiger.

Happy New Year to all of our BIS Community. Welcome back to all of our BIS families and a particularly warm welcome to all of our new families joining us this term. Although we are disappointed not to be able to welcome you all in person to campus, we look forward to seeing all of you very soon.

Dear Parents, As we reach the end of term, I would like to extend a huge congratulations to each and every BIS student for their perseverance throughout this term and a heartfelt thank you for your support.

As we approach the end of term, we have a great deal to celebrate; the children have adapted so well and made super progress this term.

This week we welcomed a number of Term 1 starters on site to visit the school for the first time.

As we approach the end of the term, preparations are underway for our first groups of students to return to school. Vaccination efforts have been continuing at a pace across the city and the country at large. We are now preparing to welcome students back on campus in the very near future. With this in mind, we need to begin preparing our community for making the transition back into face to face learning.
