For more than 20 years, the Saola has been part of the BIS HCMC crest, symbolising our Vietnamese home and our commitment to protect what matters most. Now, that symbol has stepped beyond the crest and into school life as our first-ever sports mascot — brought to life by our Year 12 Enrichment Prefects.

The British International School Ho Chi Minh City (BIS HCMC) has once again secured the highest possible accolade — Outstanding in Every Category — following its November 2025 British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection, conducted by Penta International on behalf of the UK Government. This marks over 10 years of being rated an Outstanding international school.

At BIS HCMC, our story is one of connection, continuity, and care — a place where learning begins with curiosity and ends with confident, compassionate graduates ready to shape the world. Earlier this year, we witnessed a moving reminder of this journey, as eighteen members of our Year 13 Class of 2025 returned to the place where it all began: Early Years Foundation Stages.

With over 1,200 students, staff, and parents participating in the 5km run or walk, the event was a true reflection of the school’s commitment to fostering a strong sense of community.

What do you do when you have school uniforms that are now too small, or you no longer need them, but you don’t want to simply throw them away? For BIS HCMC parents, Bibi, Margot, and Ying, this dilemma sparked an inspiring solution—the Parent Uniform Upcycling Team.

Congratulations to our graduating class of 2024 who are embarking on the next chapter of their educational journey, at some of the top universities across the globe.  From Harvard University and UCLA in the USA, University of Cambridge and Imperial College London in the UK, Korea University and Seoul National University in South Korea to National University of Singapore, The University of Sydney, University of Toronto and University of Amsterdam, our students are off to the best of the best!  Not to mention other top Universities in Australia and Korea as students are currently applying and receiving offers for a February 2025 start at universities including University of Melbourne, University of New South Wales and Yonsei University.

We are incredibly excited to announce that we have been shortlisted for International School of the Year in the Tes awards alongside 7 other schools from around the world. With hundreds of schools nominated, it’s a great honour for us to be shortlisted as one of the best international schools in the world and a testament to our exceptional leadership, teaching and support staff.

Inspired by the Nord Anglia Education Insights article, “The Fourth Education Revolution” we wanted to share with you our own insights on AI in education.  At BIS HCMC we want to lead the way and we believe that AI can be used as a tool for creativity across the entire curriculum. Our dedicated athletes, in our basketball, cross country, football, swimming, table tennis and volleyball teams, have started their 2023-24 season with some outstanding performances against teams across HCMC.  With training in full swing, and many competitive fixtures under their belts, our students are certainly committed to the countless hours of training and showing true teamwork skills and sportsmanship.  Our PE department share some of the highlights of the season so far.

After 13 years at BIS our Whole School Deputy Head Teacher (Enrichment) Ms Lauren Binnington has made a huge mark on BIS HCMC. One of the many long-lasting changes she has seen in her time is the development of our sustainability practices in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. As we celebrate our 25th year of providing outstanding education, we were inspired by our Head Teacher of Junior Campus, Ms Dee Grimshaw as she counts 25 reasons to choose BIS HCMC for our 25th anniversary.

After a challenging three years where the global pandemic, Covid-19, caused major disruption to the education of millions of school aged children across the world, The British International School, Ho Chi Minh City brought together staff from across the FOBISIA network to look at strategies to best support those students most affected in our International Schools. On the 4th and 5th of March 2023, BIS HCMC hosted the BIS Invitational Swimming Gala for the first time in four years. There were a total of 420 swimmers from the seven different schools ranging from age 6 - 18 years old. Read about how BIS broke 17 school records and came home the overall champions!

We are delighted to announce that BIS HCMC has retained the British Schools Overseas “Outstanding in Every Category” status following the, Penta International inspection of our school in November 2022.

Last Sunday our BIS HCMC community was out in force turning Sala into a vibrant sea of red and Union Jacks!  This was the return of the popular BritCham Charity Fun Run!

Ready, get set... The BritCham Fun Run is back! The annual event, which started back in the year 2000 has since raised over 12 billion VND for local charities in Vietnam.
