For the past 25 years, BIS has been based on a collective endeavour to innovate and evolve, and to build strong purposeful relationships across our community. In this spirit, it is with great pleasure that I share today’s update on an exciting and busy term ahead, including new parental engagement opportunities, our upcoming school inspection, exciting Performing Arts events and a major facilities development with our upcoming Auditorium refurbishment. We certainly have much to look forward to!

What a difference a year makes! This time last year, we were heading into Half Term albeit virtual.  Our community, like this year, were looking forward to the break from school but travel was still restricted and strict Covid protocols remained in place.

As we reach the end of the first half-term of the 2022-2023 academic year, it provides us with an opportunity to reflect on what we have accomplished over the last two months.  We are also coming to the end of our focus on ‘Care’, so in assembly this morning, we took time to think about how much care we have seen at the Early Years and Infant Campus since the start of the year.

Dear Parents and Students,   Over the years, our BIS International Day has been the occasion when the wonderful diversity and energy of our multicultural, international community is most clearly expressed. In typical BIS fashion, our students, parents and teachers came together today to make sure International Day 2022 was the biggest, boldest, most creative and colourful yet!

The theme of parent partnership continues at the Junior Campus this week with a number of successful events involving our BIS Community.

Maths workshops this week, highlight the importance of developing reasoning skills above the simple desire to get an answer right.

One of the things I love about the BIS HCMC Community is that although we are proud of what we do, and what we achieve - we are always looking for small ways to make what we do even better.

Dear Parents and Students, I believe every school should have a vibrant culture of the arts at its core. Education in Drama, Music, Art and Literature brings benefits to each individual, each community, each culture. The arts not only develop our students’ empathic, aesthetic and analytical, problem solving skills within each discipline - they equip learners with the platform to excel in all aspects of their learning across the curriculum.

It has been very sad to hear the overnight news that Her Majesty The Queen of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland has passed away at the age of 96.

Celebrating the culture and festivals of our host country, Vietnam, is one of the highlights of being part of an international school community. Today we all joined together to celebrate Tet Trung Thu or the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is also often referred to as simply Moon Festival.

I read recently that in one school year children spend on average 1000 hours at school and roughly 3000 at home.

Dear Parents, Although it has been a short week, in typical BIS fashion, we have packed in a rich array of events and activities in student learning and connecting with you, our parent community.

A busy week with Barracuda Trials, Young Musician auditions, Parent Information Evenings, Entry Points for IPC units and lots more!

Dear Parents, This week has been one of establishing routines and connections as students enjoy their first full week of timetabled lessons across the curriculum.

The first full week back in school has been a busy one for all members of the BIS community.
