Blog | College and University Guidance | Music and Drama Choral singing with Tim Rhys-Evans MBE, renowned UK Vocal Teacher, Conductor and Musical Director
Last month it was an honour to welcome Mr Tim Rhys-Evans (MBE) to BIS HCMC for three days, to run a series of unique ‘Choral Singing Days’ for our students and wider community, as well as workshops on university and career opportunities in the fields of music and performing arts. Mr Rhys-Evans is a renowned vocal teacher specialising in choral conducting and is currently the Musical Director at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and leader of the National Youth Choir of Wales. He is also the founder and musical director of the famous choirs; 'Only Men Aloud', 'Only Boys Aloud', 'Only Kids Aloud' and 'Only Girls Aloud'.

From Slipknot to Taylor Swift, our BIS bands put on a show to remember last week, and all for our community partners! The incredible “Live Aid” concert was 100% organised by our secondary student Co-Curricular club “Make a Move” and make a move they did - raising 18 million VND for Heartbeat Vietnam and Laws for Paws. Discover how our students led this event from idea to execution, covering graphic design, marketing, event management and communication and how they rocked the Founders Auditorium.

BIS Alumni makes West End stage debut and nominated as ‘Best Graduate’ in the Black British Theatre Awards
Dreams do come true if you follow your passions! This is certainly the case for Jenna, a BIS alumni, who received a scholarship from a prestigious performing arts school after completing her IGCSEs with us and is now performing on the west end AND nominated for the Black British Theatre Awards. Jenna talks to us about her journey and how her big role in our Bonnie and Clyde production gave her the confidence to pursue her dream.

We were honoured to take part in celebrations organised by the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh with the British Embassy in Hanoi to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the UK and Vietnam. The main event in HCMC being the ‘UK Festival’ to showcase the best of everything British. The bond between the UK and Vietnam is going from strength to strength with education being one of their core themes to mark this important 50th anniversary. We were delighted to be involved and strengthen our already strong partnership with the British Consulate here in Ho Chi Minh City.
