From Slipknot to Taylor Swift, our BIS bands put on a show to remember last week, and all for our community partners! The incredible “Live Aid” concert was 100% organised by our secondary student Co-Curricular club “Make a Move” and make a move they did - raising 18 million VND for Heartbeat Vietnam and Laws for Paws. Discover how our students led this event from idea to execution, covering graphic design, marketing, event management and communication and how they rocked the Founders Auditorium.

Over at least 14 years this venue has witnessed thousands of BIS students graduate. Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, our Year 13s prepared to join the outstanding alumni of BIS HCMC.

BIS-Aware season on the Secondary campus was an opportunity to explore the breadth and depth of who ‘We Are’ as individuals and communities, it provided a platform to explore the Protected Characteristics, the hidden and lesser known stories that celebrate our strength and diversity. The purpose of this inaugural event was to promote Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) to nurture a supportive community that encourages a sense of social responsibility and inclusion. This brings together both worldwide movements such as Black History Month and Women's History Month but also our own ‘in-house’ awareness event from the Identity Alliance group. This year our theme was ‘Sharing Stories’.

Our U13 sports squad took part in the first FOBISIA Games in 4 years, from Wednesday 15th to Sunday 19th March at the world-class Patana Sports Complex, near Pattaya in Thailand. Our team of 28 students aged 11-13 competed against 6 other schools from the FOBISIA network, in swimming, athletics, basketball and football, in what is one of the most competitive International Sports Tournaments in Asia. In March our Junior and Secondary coders took part in 2 coding challenges competing against schools across Asia. The first challenge hosted by The British School of Manila, saw our senior team succeeding with their lost and found organisation platform, whilst the Junior competition, hosted by BIS HCMC, saw our teams winning best presentation across KS2 and KS3. However, at times we can all feel a little overwhelmed, particularly in an environment where there is a lot going on. Pressure to perform and improve drives us on and makes us better at what we do but ultimately, if we can’t manage pressure effectively it can lead to stress.

On Wednesday 28th March 2018, our student-gymnasts represented BIS HCMC in the annual BIS Invitational Gymnastics competition. There were over 50 competitors from BIS, BVIS and ISHCMC performing in both floor and vault routines, levels ranging from 1-4.
