Every year, our Tết Gift Box Collection unites students, parents, and staff in a tradition of giving, supporting local organisations that make a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable children, families, and elderly residents across Ho Chi Minh City. By donating simple yet essential items, stationery, hygiene products, and basic food supplies, our community can help brighten the holiday season for hundreds of individuals served by our community partners. Together, we can make Tết a time of joy, dignity, and opportunity for everyone.

Starting school is a significant moment in a young child’s life — and for our pre-nursery learners in Foundation Stage 1 (F1), it marks the beginning of their educational journey at BIS HCMC. We understand that this transition can be both exciting and emotional for children and their families. That’s why we place great emphasis on a carefully designed settling-in period, tailored to the needs of each individual child. Our settling in period allows for children to start at any time during the year, allowing children to feel safe, secure, comfortable and ready to learn, regardless of when they join us during the year.

At BIS HCMC, our story is one of connection, continuity, and care — a place where learning begins with curiosity and ends with confident, compassionate graduates ready to shape the world. Earlier this year, we witnessed a moving reminder of this journey, as eighteen members of our Year 13 Class of 2025 returned to the place where it all began: Early Years Foundation Stages.

Joining BIS HCMC in Foundation Stage 2 (F2) is a fantastic age to begin a lifetime love for learning, encouraged and nurtured by our experienced and committed class and specialist teachers, who personalise learning unique to every child.  We look back at what our F2s have experienced in less than one term already at BIS HCMC.

Last Tuesday 17th September our Early Years and Primary students and staff excitedly came together to celebrate Moon Festival. Also known as Mid- Autumn Festival and ‘Tết Trung Thu’ in Vietnamese, Moon Festival is a significant cultural event in Vietnam. It’s held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the year. This is also one of the highlights of international school life here at BIS HCMC as we value and respect the significance and embrace the culture and traditions of our beautiful host country, Vietnam.

As we reach the end of the first half-term of the 2022-2023 academic year, it provides us with an opportunity to reflect on what we have accomplished over the last two months.  We are also coming to the end of our focus on ‘Care’, so in assembly this morning, we took time to think about how much care we have seen at the Early Years and Infant Campus since the start of the year.

Maths workshops this week, highlight the importance of developing reasoning skills above the simple desire to get an answer right.

Celebrating the culture and festivals of our host country, Vietnam, is one of the highlights of being part of an international school community. Today we all joined together to celebrate Tet Trung Thu or the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is also often referred to as simply Moon Festival.

The first full week back in school has been a busy one for all members of the BIS community.

As the new school year gets underway, we welcome new families to BIS and welcome back families from their summer vacations.

International Week is a highlight of the school year, there has been so much happening all week to help strengthen the BIS community.

As well as super learning opportunities, events are happening that bring the BIS community together once again.

Last week was Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK. The theme, this year, was exploring the experience of loneliness, its effect on our mental health and how we can all play a part in reducing loneliness in our communities. A topic that is highly relevant considering the past two years

The qualities of the schools ‘aide memoire’ have been evident this week, as our community continues to rebuild following the months of separation brought on by the pandemic.

A short but busy week with classes active and engaged across the school! As our Year 11 and 13 students embark on their IGCSE and IB exams, the learning continues across primary in the journey of education for all our students.

Despite the rainy end to the week, it has been a glorious week of events here at the EY&I and Junior Campuses with children performing, exploring, investigating and much more across all ages and stages.
