Our incredible U15 athletes represented BIS HCMC at the FOBISIA Games in Thailand—a three-day celebration of sport, teamwork, and determination. Competing against top schools from across Asia, our students showed true BIS spirit in athletics, basketball, football, and swimming. What makes FOBISIA special? It’s not just one sport—it’s a test of versatility, resilience, and passion. From sprinting on the track to diving into the pool, from fast-paced basketball courts to strategic football matches, our athletes gave it their all!

From fearless first-timers to seasoned champions, our Barracudas didn’t just swim—they soared! Every race was a testament to their grit, passion, and unstoppable team spirit.

If you’ve seen one of our orchestras in full force, heard our choirs sing in harmony, or watched one of our musical or dramatical productions fueled by passion, creativity, quick wit and powerful performances, you’ll understand why Performing Arts at BIS HCMC is something special. These experiences rival professional productions on the global stage.

A team of BIS HCMC students has made history at the prestigious Conrad Challenge, held recently at the Space Center in Houston, Texas. Competing against over 4,700 teams from more than 50 countries, the BIS team won first place in both of the categories they entered – Best Power Pitch and the Glinsky Expo Award – an unprecedented achievement in the challenge's history.

The BIS Community Rugby Co-Curricular Activity (CCA), in partnership with Rugby Cung Nhau (Rugby Together), is a powerful collaboration rooted in a shared vision: using sport as a tool to uplift and empower young people.

Joining BIS HCMC in Foundation Stage 2 (F2) is a fantastic age to begin a lifetime love for learning, encouraged and nurtured by our experienced and committed class and specialist teachers, who personalise learning unique to every child.  We look back at what our F2s have experienced in less than one term already at BIS HCMC.

Every year BIS HCMC takes students from across several year groups, in Primary and Secondary to the FOBISIA Friendly Games, held near Pattaya in Thailand.  This provides our young athletes with the opportunity to compete at a high level against other British International Schools across Asia in athletics, basketball, football, swimming and T-ball as well as form global friendships with their peers throughout the region.

On Saturday 11th November, our secondary robotics team and their two robots, BIS A and BIS B headed to SSIS in District 7, for their first ever VEX robotics tournament. Despite only having 1 robot built the week before and not having much time to practice, the team had a tremendously successful run battling against other schools, making it to the quarter and semi-finals!

Our dedicated athletes, in our basketball, cross country, football, swimming, table tennis and volleyball teams, have started their 2023-24 season with some outstanding performances against teams across HCMC.  With training in full swing, and many competitive fixtures under their belts, our students are certainly committed to the countless hours of training and showing true teamwork skills and sportsmanship.  Our PE department share some of the highlights of the season so far.

On the 4th and 5th of March 2023, BIS HCMC hosted the BIS Invitational Swimming Gala for the first time in four years. There were a total of 420 swimmers from the seven different schools ranging from age 6 - 18 years old. Read about how BIS broke 17 school records and came home the overall champions!

Here at BIS HCMC we take great joy in our Nord Anglia collaborations with pioneering institutions such as MIT, Juilliard and of course the humanitarian aid organisation, UNICEF. With December 2021 marking the 75th anniversary of UNICEF, our Year 12 student Nini, was selected to interview former UNICEF UK President and UNICEF Ambassador, Lord David Puttnam. Last weekend our Model United Nations team were proud to host the first Regional online MUN conference for schools from Nord Anglia Education South East Asia and Middle East region. With a wide geographic range, navigating time zones and technology posed several challenges, but our leadership team rose to the occasion and produced as close to a face-to-face event as possible.

This Monday, our team, the Thao Dien Disabled School club, ran a form time activity for the Year 9s to follow up on their Wellbeing lesson on the topic of “Accepting and Learning from others”.

Last Saturday, on 19th September, over 130 members of the BIS HCMC school community, including students, parents and teachers from across the 3 campuses, joined volunteers worldwide and in the city to participate in World CleanUp Day.

Despite the challenge of COVID-19, our Precious Plastics group made it through to the semi-final of the Global Social Leaders 'Global Goals Competition', from 249 entries.

Congratulations to our Year 10 and Year 12 Biologists who took part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad, which is organised by the UK Biology Competitions Committee and administered by the Royal Society of Biology.

Throughout Term 3, as part of our Expeditions Xtra offer, students from our 66 schools have been engaged in a competition to research the chosen destinations of Tanzania and Switzerland and build villages from these countries using the Minecraft platform.
